I never minded telling the little ones how old I was, but with the older ones, I usually reminded them that it was impolite to ask an adult how old they were. Then one year, one of the fifth grade classrooms had a gift for me. They invited me to their classroom to present it to me and sing happy birthday to me. One of the kiddos asked how old I was and I replied, "Eighty-nine." And much to my consternation, no one in the room questioned my purported age!
