Do you know this yard game?
It's just like horseshoes, but you use these metal 'washers'.
The washers need to land in a hole/metal tube in the ground.
I was told these were common at local parks many years ago, but only one park in the Madison area still has a set.
There is nothing so summery as the sound of a horseshoe hitting a metal stake.
Clang!
Ringer!
Our father played horseshoes when we went up to a cabin in Hayward, Wisconsin.
He played with Mr. Irving.
KrisS' father, Bill.
They were best friends.
Long, long, ago.
Clang!
They were both so good with children.
They would have played the 'washer' game with Katie.
No doubt.
Happy Memorial Day!
Encourage one another,
Donna
p.s. My firstborn arrived on Memorial Day in 1982.
It was the 31st.
I was changed forever.
