The Oscars Red Carpet 2017

 Hello friends!

I had a great time watching the Academy Awards last night.  I was just waiting to hate it because I thought it would be way too political.  But it wasn't.  Yay.  Jimmy Kimmel, who I don't even watch regularly was a fantastic, funny host.  His fake feud with Matt Damon is so funny and made me laugh out loud so many times.  I love when the celebs read mean tweets.  Cracks me up.

The opening song and dance was my favorite....ever. And I am not even a JT fan.  But Justin Timberlake set the tone for a fun and loose awards show.  Brilliant!!!  Plus he sang a tiny bit of one of my favorite songs of all time. (Lovely Day)

This is Kate Bosworth.  She is arriving at the Vanity Fair party....and well....
It's my favorite.

Taraiji looks stunning in this wonderful dress.  Her necklace was spectacular too.

George and Amal were not at the Oscars...haha...
but I saw this dress on the internet today and had to share it.
Amal is expecting TWINS.

Another after the show dress.  Pretty.

This is the director of Lalaland.  His lovely date is wearing one of my favorite dresses of the night!

Gamine.
Perfection.

Halle Berry.  Her dress is just perfect on her.  Interesting and pretty.
Her hair is unique.

The thing about Nicole....she takes risks.  I like her better when she dresses like this.
Not with crazy peacocks on her shoulders.

I thought Scarlett Johansen's dress was so comfy and pretty looking.
Not a fan of her hair...but Halle Berry saw her hair and said....I want mine short again...
And I thought.  yes.

Emma Stone in the perfect dress to win an Oscar in.

Here is her after party look :o)

Hallie Stienfeld.  Or something like that.  This dress was very floaty and beautiful.  It was pretty see through.  It's so pretty.

Ethereal.

Emma Roberts wearing a dress so similar to Michelle Williams...but with different textures.  I like them both very much.

Felicity Jones.  I saw this with a belt and thought it was even better that way.  But it sure is my kind of dress.

Gorgeous dress and hair and everything.

Hey Girl.
I wore ruffles just for you...
to remind you of your high school prom.

Gorgeous.  I actually like this fringy dress better than Emma's....
So pretty.

The bodice of this dress is plain...and so is the skirt....
But the volume of this skirt and it's length made it a favorite of mine.

Hello. Pretty Lady.

Do you like my choices this year?
Did you watch the show?  Did you enjoy it?
I know I left out many pretty dresses...there were so many wonderful dresses!!!

 xoxo

oh. hi.

This picture popped up on Facebook.
It is of my mom and her new friend, Sue Scott, in-law-to-be.
Joanie Scott posted it...and I have never seen it before.
Joanie Scott was my sister Nancy's college friend...
Nancy married Joanie's brother Binky soon after our parents died.

As I have mentioned before Sue and Vern Scott were especially sweet to all of the Glyman girls after our parents died.

If I have it right, this picture was taken in the summer of 1973.

I could stare at it all day.

So happy to see these happy faces.
Love you.
Miss you.
Mean it.

I like to watch.

Hi Friends,

Have you all been watching Victoria on PBS?

It's very beautiful to watch. Victoria's dresses and lace necklines are stunning.

The first two episodes were....er...um...boring...to me.

Episodes three and four have been much better.

What do you think? Are you loving it?

****

I have been sitting very much on the weekends.  Sitting and resting.
Sitting and resting and watching.

All sorts of things on Netflix and Amazon.

Here are some of the shows I have binged on and have been watching lately;

Westworld (HBO) -Science Fiction. Very weird. Robot theme park. Great Acting. Rated R
Stranger Things- Science Fiction. Katie and I both really liked this! Kids. Reminded us of ET.
The Crown- Excellent.  A bit slow.  But most of you will LOVE this.
Victoria- Enjoyable. Beautiful.  Not as good as the movie the lovely The Young Victoria (2009)
The Man in the High Castle (Netflix)- Engrossing. What if the Nazi's won the war and came to America.
Outlander- (Showtime) I love this program.  We do not have Showtime so I purchase the episodes...thus I have only watched the good parts ;o)  If I preview an episode and it is all warring....I skip it and look for Jamie and Claire portions.  I know this is unthinkable to some...but I really don't like warring.
And speaking of War.
Hacksaw Ridge (movie)- Amazing true story of faith during times of war.  I could not watch approximately 1 hour of this film.  Rated Gruesome.
Lion- AMAZING MOVIE.  True story of a man looking for his lost mother and brother in India.
The OA- Science Fiction Thriller. About a blind girl who goes missing and her return....now with sight.
The Leftovers- What happens when there is a partial rapture?
The Path- Aaron Paul in a cult.
Gilmore Girls- Great fun.
The Americans-  can't get into it.
House of Cards- I resisted this for a long time.  But it is kind of amazing. Rated R
History of the Eagles-  You know, the band from the 70's.  We just loved this documentary!!!
Jim Gaffigan Cinco-  WATCH THIS!!  It is hilarious.
Catastrophe (amazon) - This show is hilarious.  It is very racy and raw.  But I think the writing is amazing.

What do I recommend?

If you love science fiction I would pick The OA for you or Stranger Things.

If you love historical, British pieces, I would recommend The Crown and The Young Victoria movie if you have not seen it.

If you like men in kilts, watch The Outlander.  The acting and story are tremendous. (if you do not like nudity on screen, don't watch this.)

For political intrigue watch House of Cards.

For clean comedy watch Jim Gaffigan:Cinco and for very mature comedy watch Catastrophe.

It is Oscar month so TCM is showing Oscar winners all month.  Now, Voyager was on this morning ;o)

Patrick and I check the channel regularly for some fine movie choices.

What have you watched that you would recommend?
Thanks!

XOXO

School Marm.

I look like this less often as the weeks go by at school.  Honestly I am met with some situations that have me seriously searching for the right way to react.

But it's getting better.
woo

And guess what?
I have been asked to stay for the rest of the year.

I am getting the hang of the early hours,
My feet don't hurt anymore.

But for a person who rarely has a cold....
well...I've got another doozy.

Never in my life have a had a person sneeze in my face.
This happens regularly at school.

Oy.

But every day something fun happens,
I learn new things
and our kiddos do something great!
They teachers I work with are hard working and dedicated, they are sweet to the children and tireless.

(Sometimes I wish I could choose the curriculum...haha
that was a highlight of homeschooling....)

But the school I am at is very hands-on and takes many field trips.
I never taught my children about electricity...with batteries and solar pads and wires, switches and lights and buzzers. But learning about electricity in class this week was interesting and informative. I liked how the class worked in groups (or alone) to figure out how it all worked.
Everyone was engaged.
It was a good week.

Katie is in Chicago at a Model UN meeting again this weekend.
I don't hear much from her when she is gone.  Hope it's going well.

Thank you all for the kind, thoughtful comments on the last post.
They meant so much to me.

Love
