Walking into Brimfield is like getting a hug from my past.
I feel like Emily in Our Town.

The people are not there, but the nice memories are.
The mid century modern furniture reminds me of my mom and the bell tumblers remind me of my children.

I'm thankful for a life full of beautiful memories....
so many more good ones than bad.

Selective memory is a good thing.

Says me.

Love,
Donna

    2. I didn't get this the first time! I thought Janice had a husband or son named Dan! But I was the one who confused Cleveland and Cincinnati when talking about red carpet fashion.:p

    3. Cindy knows I can't to get myself to swear. But OH how I want to sometimes. So I say Dan instead of dam. See... Can't do it.

    4. Dan is almost as satisfying as the real thing :-D

    5. Oh, I wish I didn't swear so easily. Brennan says, "Muff", which has become my go-to, "quick talking like a sailor, Di!" word.

And, man! would I love to walk around that store. The baskets and the Boy Scout books caught my eye!

I love places that cause the memories to rise up and soak in!

      Love,
      Di

  7. Beautiful Thoughts and feelings behind your post Donna. My oldest daughter Lael(do you remember her?) goes to Moody and is a Nanny in Chicago for the summer. Our next visit will be in August and now we have places to go to eat and places to browse around while we are there.

I wanted to add a wonderful Italian restaurant to your list $$ called "Coco Pazzo Café" at 636N St. Clair. The food, service and atmosphere was wonderful. Fantastic bread and yummy salad. Main dishes were all delish as we sampled each others picks. We definitely want to go back in the future.

Enjoying your blog and watching the family grow. It has been so many years...... Wow!

    1. Hi Tori! I didn't know Lael was at Moody! That is wonderful. I thought you were on the East coast...from Facebook stalking :o) I looked up where Fountain City is...I bet it is beautiful over there!
Emma paid her way thru Moody...much of her funds coming from being a Nanny.
Thank you for the restaurant recommendation. I will ask Emma if she has been there.
Thank you for leaving a comment!

  8. We had that big green picnic basket growing up. My mom would load it with food, dishes and silverware whenever we would go to a potluck at church.

I LOVE the tin lunch pail that looks like a loaf of sliced bread.

  10. Confession: I had to google "bell tumbler." (Don't gasp!) As soon as I saw the picture, I knew what they were, just had never heard them called that!!

My husband walked by while I was going through the pictures and pointed out, "That is our picnic basket!" We have one just like the brown one in the middle, probably the most common one of them all. Sweet memories should last forever and bad ones be on their way out the door quickly. Selective memory is a very good idea!
    love and prayers, jep

I don't know why I can't leave a comment from my iphone........just wanted to say that I think either Country Living or Midwest Living did a featured page on Brimfields including a picture or two...........now I will be "on the hunt" to find it. Karen F.
