I buy my eggs at the farmers market.
It makes me very happy to be able to do this.
I feel happy that I am supporting the local farmers.
I feel happy because they came from close by.
I feel happy because they are fresh.
I feel happy because they are healthy.
I feel happy because they are tasty.
And I feel happy because they are pretty.
eggs.
happy.
happy.
happy.

Donna
Eggs-actly! Happy Friday, Miz Boo!
ReplyDelete(and isn't it weird to crack a store bought egg after you are used to 'real' ones? They are so runny and pale. I'm making zucchini bread today and I needed more eggs.)
I have a friend who gives me eggs, and it makes me so excited. I love the color (esp. when there are a few of the greeny blue ones added to the browns) and the taste? The bright colored yolk? Yumola!!!
ReplyDeleteI think I especially love how not perfect they are...slightly different sizes, a few bits of straw on them...it reminds me they came from real birds with nice lives (until they stop laying and become trussed up, that is (-;)
Beauty is all around. Thanks again for reminding us!
Love,
Di
Do they eat the layers after they are done laying?
ReplyDeleteThe farmer told me their life span is but three years.
I love this post. : ) And I love how you made a carton of eggs look so dang pretty. I haven't picked up my camera in a while...you've inspired me now.
ReplyDeleteOur chickens should be laying eggs by this fall. I can't hardly wait.
Happy Friday everyone,
Love,
Sarah P. from Iowa
I love eggs - a sort of affordable source of protein here. I buy the happy contented yodeling chicken eggs and love the orangey yolk and little feathers stuck to the shell.
ReplyDeleteBonus : they are sold in the store. (Location is often provided on label showing what area the farm is in. LOVE this.
P.S. even your egg photos are pretty, Donna!

hi jep! love and prayers coming back to you!
DeletePretty photos of eggs! What happened to "flash-back-friday?"
ReplyDeleteHave a good weekend!
A good friend raises chickens and I get our eggs from her. They are AMAZING!! Sometimes if we're hungry late at night we'll just have scrambled eggs ... SO tasty! Store bought eggs don't hold candle by comparison. If you've never tried fresh, locally raised eggs do yourself a BIG favor and support a farmer's market and buy some. You will NOT be sorry!
ReplyDeleteI think it's time for scambled eggs or French toast this evening! :)
ReplyDeleteMary Z
Mary, we had French toast for breakfast this morning! Smile!

We had chickens when I was growing up. Brown eggs. They were delicious. My Daddy was a farmer even when we just had one little acre. He just can't get it out of his blood.
ReplyDeleteI would like to buy fresh eggs. Perhaps we will start going to the farmers market on Saturday. I think brown eggs are the most beautiful of all eggs.
Layers lay until they are about three years old generally. Then they enter what a writer called "henopause". Neighbors had chickens but kept them even after the hens no longer laid eggs. No chickens currently and we all miss the morning clucking and the eggs.
ReplyDeleteCan you eat a layer?
ReplyDeleteGorgeous photos, Donna! I'm trying to buy more foods locally - it does feel good! :)
