Good morning,
I've been working at a local elementary school for the past few mornings.
Yesterday as I was helping in a kindergarten art class, I asked the children how old they were.
They were very happy to tell me.
I said, you were all so nice not to ask how old I am.
Which meant of course they asked.
I said, I'm not telling.
One little girl said, "Are you in the hundreds?"
Which is the funniest thing I've ever heard.
Happy Friday all you spring chickens!
Donna
I love envisioning you with the wee little kiddos. I hope it's been a good week for you.
ReplyDeleteYou know that expression "you're as young as you feel" ?? This a.m.I woke up and felt 70 - then around 11:00, walking around in the sunshine, I felt about 17!
BTW, this song makes me think of "Elf" now :!)
Happy Friday!
I am a retired elementary school librarian. I never minded telling the little ones how old I was, but with the older ones, I usually reminded them that it was impolite to ask an adult how old they were. Then one year, one of the fifth grade classrooms had a gift for me. They invited me to their classroom to present it to me and sing happy birthday to me. One of the kiddos asked how old I was and I replied, "Eighty-nine." And much to my consternation, no one in the room questioned my purported age! Dee S
ReplyDeleteNot one hundred, but "in the hundreds"?? Lol. Little kids are the best.
ReplyDeleteHappy weekend!
Oh this made me just giggle!!! Thank you for sharing such a sweet story. Laughter is a good thing! :)
ReplyDeleteLittle kiddos are so cute! Have fun, Donna!
ReplyDeleteHow cute. I am so glad you are working with children. I just know you are fabulous at it and will be a bright spot in their day.

ReplyDeleteK-2 grade kiddos are so stinking cute
Ha! Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteHa! Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteThe answer "No, I'm in my tens" sounds so youthful. I'm going to have that prepared just in case a wee one ever asks me that question! "I'm somewhere in my tens."
ReplyDeleteBig smile here...the little ones were my favorites in the libraries where I worked.
ReplyDeletelove and prayers, jep
When my daughter was young she said "mom are you 60?" and I told her, "no, I'm 30" and she stops and goes "well.... that's almost 60"
ReplyDeleteIt made me laugh even though I didn't let her know that. I'll just remind her when she's 30 almost 60.
