Olly Oxen Free, Take a chance on me.

So....
You know that Abba song, "Take a Chance on Me"?

Well.... I always wondered why they were singing Olly Oxen Free, Take a Chance on me.

It didn't really make sense. And do they use that term in Sweden?
Did we get that saying from them?

Misheard lyrics are the funniest!
And, no, they are not singing Olly Oxen Free.

They are singing, get ready,

"Honey, I'm still free, take a chance on me."

haha

Well, that makes perfect sense.

And so it goes....

Encourage one another,
Donna

  1. I love the name for getting lyrics wrong - Mondegreen - and the story behind it: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mondegreen

  2. When Jamey was about 4 years old, he was singing very loudly "I want some pasta, baby, this evening.....Give me some pasta, baby tonight." We were trying so hard not to laugh as the song on the radio was actually Donna Summer's "Hot Stuff". Around that same time, he also loved singing "Whoa oh whoa, Mr. Music...." to "Listen to the Music" by the Doobie Brothers. He was such good entertainment for us. :)

  3. Hah! "Blinded by the Light" by Manfred Mann's Earth Band. Deuce! Not...well, not the other word you probably think he's singing. ;)
