"Never keep a trouble half an hour on your own mind before you tell it to God. As soon as the trouble comes, quick, the first thing, tell it to your Father.”
Charles Spurgeon
My favorite Avett Bro song, I think.
I'm not sure what the brothers singing and the cello player just sitting there means....
if you have any ideas feel free to share the with me.
Encourage one another,
And quick! tell it to your Father.
Let's try this...I think it's a sure path to peace.

Love. This. Lots on my mind these days and I tend to mull and worry and fidget my brain over it before I breathe it out to the Father.
ReplyDeleteI think that is Bob Crawford, who isn't the cello player -- the cello player is Joe Kwon and not on this video -- and Bob plays double base, violin, trumpet and sings has been with them almost since the beginning. It does seem a bit awkward for him to just be sitting there with a surly look on his face; he has a really lovely smile.
ReplyDeleteCharles Spurgeon was in my devotional reading for Oct. 19th. I am reading the book On This Day in Christian History by Robert J. Morgan. Here is part of what I read, "Fits of depression come over most of us," Charles Spurgeon once told his students. "The strong are not always vigorous; the joyous are not always happy." The entry went on to describe a time in Spurgeon's life when he was very depressed, but it was "...this disaster, horrible as it was, that vaulted Charles Spurgeon to overnight fame as a preacher all the world wanted to hear." I will email you the whole story as it is too long for here. And, as always what a great combination of items for your blog. It is like you are an interior designer of blog entries. I enjoyed the song and have no idea why the one other person is with the brothers. love and prayers, jep
ReplyDeleteNot thirty minutes ago, I prayed, "God help me to be more like Jesus and less like myself." And then I opened your blog and read, "...make me truthful, may I be gentle, pure and kind like Thee." My Father is so good to reinforce things with me and it made me tear up. May He bless you today, Donna. Your blog always brings me joy.
