Red.

Katie loves trying new lip colors. #red #prettylips

Katie tried on numerous red lipsticks at Sephora last weekend.  She came home with one color and instantly did not like how it looked at home.  We immediately drove back to the mall so she could see if there had been a mix up.  There was no mix up. But Sephora lets you return items.
(thanks for the gift card big brother patrick :o)

She eventually chose one called tannin by a company called bite.
She put it on this morning to wear to school.
And then she chickened out.

It's a pretty big statement.

I think she looked great!

Are you a fan of red lipstick?

  1. I admire a person who can wear red lipstick.

The photo of Katie, above, is really lovely. She looks sensational!

I wear lipstick every day, gotta take care of my lips ... EOS a.m. and p.m. and lipstick all day. I have to wear a more brownish shade of red - still, I checked out Tannin on line, and I like it.

  2. I love it on other people; I just don't like it on me. Katie looks gorgeous in red. And her hair is growing quickly.

I love red lipstick and will wear it occasionally with certain outfits. My favorite is Nars Manhunt (which I bought at Sephora). It can either be subtle or bright, depending on how lightly or heavily you put it on. Another one I have read lots of good reviews about is MAC Ruby Woo but I have not been brave enough to try it, as it looks to be a fairly bright red. I think Katie looks fabulous in the photo, kind of 1920s retro with her haircut and lipstick, although red lipstick is very current and lots of actresses are wearing it. It is a look I have always loved.

  5. I love red lipstick, but I do chicken out a lot of times and don't wear it. I have a lot of friends who don't wear make up and you really stand out with red lipstick.
Katie: you look great as usual!

I'm going out with friends tonight, maybe I'll be brave and wear the red lipstick!

  6. You know you will stand out when you wear it and sometimes we're just not in the mood to be noticed! However, she looks gorgeous. I think she should go for it.

I like Rimmel Show Off Lip Lacquer in Big Bang. Since it's a gloss, I feel like I can control the intensity - layer it, blot it, slather it on....whatever works for me that day.

Beautiful Katie brings back memories for me of my young mother and her red lipstick. Red was my mom's (my Emma Jean) favorite lipstick color even when she entered her 70's. Some women can carry it off...it looks all wrong on me, but I like it on others.

I was reading about the photographer Mev Puleo a few days ago..."The camera lens," she wrote, "is the eye of my soul, through which I touch the world and the world touches me." Made me think of you Dear Donna! love and prayers, jep

  8. Like it on some people and not on others; I think you really need to have the complexion and good, white teeth to carry it off. I wore it a lot in my younger days but haven't worn much makeup at all since retiring two years ago ... perhaps it's time to add that to my resolution/changes for 2015 and wear more lipstick and mascara ... I see a stop at a cosmetic counter in my future! Linda

  9. Love red lipstick! Big fan (you knew that)! The Ruby Woo that was mentioned earlier is my sister's favorite but it's too blue for me. I love Burnt Red by Bobbi Brown and the newer Vintage Red is fantastic. When I wear red lipstick it is like wearing a power suit. I don't do it every day, but when I do, people listen to what I have to say. Katie is so gorgeous!

  10. I can't pull off red lipstick. On me it looks as though I got into my Mama's makeup. Katie can pull it off. And by golly what gal doesn't love a new lipstick!

  11. Red is hard to pull off! But good for her!

  12. Well, judging from that photo of Katie - she can definitely pull off a red lip. She looks absolutely gorgeous! But where did little Katie go???? I honestly, at first glimpse, thought she was a famous actress/model that I should recognize. Is she growing her hair out?

  14. Beautiful! I am a redhead and have never thought red lipstick was a good idea, but she looks stunning! Tell her to go for it and to not look back!

  15. Oh my word. She is gorgeous.
Do you wear lipstick? I wore it for maybe 2 years when I was not fat. I always felt pretty putting it on. I bought Bria a color for Christmas that she fell in love with at the drug store. She also chickened out before wearing it to school.
