School Marm.

I look like this less often as the weeks go by at school.  Honestly I am met with some situations that have me seriously searching for the right way to react.

But it's getting better.
woo

And guess what?
I have been asked to stay for the rest of the year.

I am getting the hang of the early hours,
My feet don't hurt anymore.

But for a person who rarely has a cold....
well...I've got another doozy.

Never in my life have a had a person sneeze in my face.
This happens regularly at school.

Oy.

But every day something fun happens,
I learn new things
and our kiddos do something great!
They teachers I work with are hard working and dedicated, they are sweet to the children and tireless.

(Sometimes I wish I could choose the curriculum...haha
that was a highlight of homeschooling....)

But the school I am at is very hands-on and takes many field trips.
I never taught my children about electricity...with batteries and solar pads and wires, switches and lights and buzzers. But learning about electricity in class this week was interesting and informative. I liked how the class worked in groups (or alone) to figure out how it all worked.
Everyone was engaged.
It was a good week.

Katie is in Chicago at a Model UN meeting again this weekend.
I don't hear much from her when she is gone.  Hope it's going well.

Thank you all for the kind, thoughtful comments on the last post.
They meant so much to me.

Love
Donna

What a great job for you, Donna. Those are blessed children!!

It took John a few years to build up immunity to the germ factory in the classroom. Hang in there. OCD hand washing for the win.

    Happy weekending,
    Di

  2. Lucky school to have you onboard! As soon as you build up your immunity, you'll be fine. xo

  3. Those of us with grandchildren in school that we see regularly definitely feel your pain. You try and stay healthy, but kids with germs are just as deadly as adults with germs! I agree that OCD hand washing definitely helps (for you AND the kiddos). Helping them be aware of their effects on those around them is a good thing too, in more ways than one.

I agree with Carol. I miss your regular posting so much, however I understand totally how life has taken a turn for you and how much it takes out of a person to work full-time. So, we will wait patiently for the next time you are able to write and will be delighted, as always.

  8. I've been at my school for 30 years. I work with K-6 everyday, and yeas they all sneeze in my face. I try to teach some manners, but.....kids these days..... I hope/think I have a very strong immune system by now. Some years I have maybe one cold, and others years several, but this year I've already had four bad ones. I missed three continuous days of work in early Sept. We always tease the new teachers about needing to build-up their immune system, and we tell people who transfer to our school, "new school, new germs". Stay well.

  10. I confess I am so dumb. I couldn't figure out what Model UN classes were. Was it modeling class? I remember at that workshop Katie expressed interest in modeling.😀 I googled it and discovered it was modeling United Nations. I guess I am not the brightest bulb.
