Springing ahead....gladly

Isn't this the prettiest wreath you ever saw?

Katie went shopping with her girlfriend on Friday night.  She bought this cute top at Forever 21.
It was in the sale bin.  $10.  She is taking after her sister.  Good shoppers.

#PicTapGo

I have a new app on my iphone called PicTapGo.  With this app you can apply actions to your photos.
It's a whole lotta fun for $1.99.  This app was created by the Totally Rad folks...so you know it's totally rad.

#PicTapGo #newbie

I edited this picture of Ginny with PicTapGo.
I like the colors.

Volleyball

Katie played volleyball all Sunday.  We are so proud of her.

This is the book I am reading right now.  Maybe we should read this together and talk about it on Monday's.  I'm not very far yet but it might be really lovely.

What do you think?

Encourage one another,
Donna

  2. I haven't read that book, but I've read another about Dietrich Bonhoeffer. Amazing man. I would love to read that one.

Katie's shirt makes me smile. So cute.

    Have a blessed day!

  3. Metaxes is using the Bonhoeffer biography in an impressive way, calling many to Christ.

I heard him speak here in ATL in Sep '11 plus watched his address at the 2012 Natl Prayer Breakfast. Metaxes is on fire for the Lord!

  6. Great images. I LOVE that wreath. I shudder to think what it costs.
I have a goal for the year to use only FREE apps.....so Im out on your new one, but I'll enjoy yours!

    Book looks dark...is it?

  7. Happy Monday! LOVE the wreath. And the sweater ... so nice!! She looks very classy, I think.

As for Metaxes, I watched his speech on youtube and thought it was dynamite. I downloaded his bio on Wilburforce (spelling?) on Kindle recently when it was marked down. I hear great things about this Bonhoeffer book and would love to participate.

Side note: Up in Anchorage at my home church, they have a Coffee/Espresso bar in the foyer called "Bonhoeffer's" - they use profits for missions. I have always loved the name -- coffee and community go hand and hand, in my way of thinking :-)

    2. His book on Wilberforce was the impetus for the script for 'amazing grace'. I loved the movie very much, but am devouring the book. I bought it for the same kindle deal. :)

Gotta love Forever 21. That picture is so sweet.

I'll read the book! Why not. I have plans to go to the library tomorrow, anyway.

    The wreath is lovely.

    Have a good day everybody!

  9. Kathyb,
I'm sure it has dark places. But I do not feel the writing is oppressive. It's meant to be uplifting, I think.

  11. Oh, the wreath! It's giving me heart palpitations! I adore it and it shouts SPRING! (which I need at the moment as it just keeps snowing......)

Okay, Ginny pulls off that scarf without hitch, don't you think? Such a stylin' dog!

Hadn't heard of this Bonhoeffer book, but I've started The Cost of Discipleship one. It needs to be quiet in my house when I read a book like this so I can focus and "chew" a bit on it. Unfortunately, for the most part "quiet life" isn't what my house is about, especially with the bottom end of my family being GIRLS!

Back to watching snow fall outside my window.....

    Blessings and hugs to you!

    1. Tammy, 'Cost of Discipleship' and 'Life Together' are just excellent - if you love them, you'll love the story of Bonhoeffer's life even more. It gives a setting for those books that will blow your mind.

Just put Bonhoeffer on hold at the library. Looks interesting...

We had our last v-ball tournament on Sunday. Done for the season...finally!

  13. OMG...Bonfoeffer is on my reading list...maybe I will move it up so I can read it with you.

A pastor on the Radio was talking about it on my drive into work last week.

  14. Dave is almost done reading that book. He really likes it. He said it kinda reads like a text book...which is not a bad thing for him....

    1. What I loved about it was how NOT like a history text book it read - I felt like I was there. Most compelling biography I have ever, ever read. The final chapter had me weeping - hard - while I was at the piano at the club where I play - that's where I was reading the final movement.

    2. I just loved it. And Bonhoeffer. And Metaxas. Good folks.

    3. I just looked at it on Amazon - it's a hefty sized book, and the Kindle price is hefty too. I'm sure it's worth the investment, but my time is limited right now. Getting ready to head to the States in 3 days :-) I just might have to wait til I get back.

OR skip the movies and read it on the plane!

      Steph,
You weeping at the piano reminds me of the time, years ago, I made the mistake of reading the final chapters of Tuesdays with Morrie on the treadmill at the fitness center. I started crying so hard, I fell off the treadmill. Everyone who rushed to my aid assumed I was really hurt since I was sobbing. It was so embarrassing!

  19. Hello Donna! One year ago I was reading Bonhoeffer. It took me about 5 months to finally finish it. Granted, I'm a biography freak ... but every believer should read this book. What an incredible man of God! Bonhoeffer's mother set the spiritual compass of his life and he boldly proclaimed Christ til the bitter end. It made me wonder, what kind of Christ-follower am I? Would I have been so brave in the same situation? I think it gets a little draggy in the middle, but keep reading. Amazing book.

  20. I'm reading this book too and it is amazing. My father-in-law gave it to me to borrow and it really is striking.

I agree, Barb. My husband and I read it aloud when we were traveling, or at night, which means that there are parts I feel as tho I missed. Even so, it was one of the most inspiring and challenging books I have ever read -- and I will go back and reread it this summer. Enjoy, Donna!

  23. I just asked my husband if he had heard of this book and he said,"It's up in the bedroom." So...I think I will join you. :) I have put off reading Bonhoeffer because I know it will be hard to read, and hard not to change.
Love that wreath, and how you take pictures of Katie all the time. I have really let picture-taking slide. I need to get back to it! Plus, it makes for a boring blog when I only post text! :)

I read the book last year. Dense. So well researched. One of the best books I've ever read. He lived a sacrificial life and was so brave. (Another excellent one: Unbroken)

  25. I love the book...would love to participate. It took me a long time to finish, but it was so worth it.

Katie is beautiful! And Ginny in a scarf? Inspired (-:

Your title makes me think of my closest friend. She gets really sad on June 21st because she knows it is starting to get darker earlier...she loves the light. So even though I feel bludgeoned by the earlier time in Spring, I work hard to rejoice for my light loving friends. Spring is coming! Have no fear!

    Love,
    Di

  26. I've been reading Bonhoeffer for what seems like forever and finally put it down and gave up! I see that another comment admitted that it's a little draggy in the middle so that might just encourage me to pick it up again. I keep trying to convince my husband to read it and tell me what happens. ha!

    1. Mitzi ... I hope you can finish it, so worth it! Someone said it's a "man's book." Not so sure, maybe because of all the Nazi/German names and war stuff ... it confused me at times. But at the end, I didn't want to say goodbye. I just basked in the deep meaning of it all for awhile.
