Hi!

Thursday night I drove down to Harvard Illinois to pick up Emma and Patrick.

I cooked.
We ate.
We talked and laughed.
We watched Parenthood and the Packers.

Sunday evening I drove Emma and Patrick back to Chicago to attend a Blackhawks game.
They loved it.

Delicious breakfast with these two. #Tweet #sheridan

My boy Patrick. Thanks for coming to visit! It means the world to me! 12-15-14

Monday morning we went out to eat before I came home.
I loved this restaurant.  A lot.  It's called Tweet and it is on Sheridan Rd in Uptown.
Besides the intersting items on the menu...the simple things like hashbrowns had lovely purple onions on top.  I always ask for onions on my hashbrowns.  Tweet's were spectacular.
Adding to the enjoyment was the wait staff.
I really can't wait to go back.

Patrick lives far way in California.  I am very thankful that he came to see us!
It was a great visit!
Thanks honey.

This morning I wrapped presents and got them to the post office and did some picture ordering.

And that, my dears, is where I have been.

Katie and I decorated the tree last night.

Even tho I won't be sending cards out this year....I bought some cute Christmas stamps.

I hope you are all doing well.
Thank you for the amazing lines from literature!

Encourage one another,
Donna

  1. We were 2 ships passing in the Sunday Night: we were heading north from Uptown probably when you were heading down. We found some terrific new restaurants and created some new traditions. Your tree, your pup, your kids and YOU all are looking fabulous!

Here at QL it always seems like you are sending us beautiful mail and I thank you for that so much! Finally today, we got pictures printed and cards addressed and hopefully they will go out tomorrow. No tree yet and may not get around to it this year. We are going to spend Christmas with the "Grands" and will take food, so Santa does not miss their house. ;-)

Having a far away son home anytime and being with both Emma and Patrick....what a blessing!
    Love and prayers, jep

  5. Sounds like a wonderful visit. The tree is gorgeous. I think Ginny makes it even prettier. Parenthood always, always makes me cry. I don't know if I can wait until the next episode. Well, I have to, but you know what I mean.

This blog is like a Christmas card every day -- full of good messages, beautiful photos of loved ones and the plus is that it is also full of good cheer from the comment section! :) So glad you had a good visit with Patrick. Hope it was a good Hawks game -- which most have been lately! Ginny and the tree? It could be a Christmas card or postcard!

So glad that you had a nice visit with Patrick. Was he able to hit Omaha before he headed back out to CA? Do you think he will ever move back to the Midwest?

Your tree looks pretty, and Ginny looks so sweet and innocent. Emily comes home tomorrow and then we have lots of company over the next week. I enjoy it....bring it on!

  8. Lived in Uptown for years; my sister lived on Castlewood just around from the Boy's & Girl's Club on Sheridan ... then they moved to Mequon and Cedarburg (WI). I worked downtown and LOVED living in Chicago. There was a FABULOUS Vietnamese restaurant on the corner of Sheridan and Lawrence; not sure they are there anymore. LOVED going to Andersonville and there is a small European bakery called SelMarie in Lawrenceville ... yes, I do miss Chicago at times .... glad you were all able to get together ... what a fun thing during the Holidays!
