Lately

I had a family photoshoot last Saturday.  Before I went, I had to practice on Katie a little bit.

I bought strawberries at the farmers market a few weeks ago.  The seller tricked me and the berries were not sweet and they were old and mushy.  So I made jam with them.  It turned out pretty good.

Katie loves succulents.

And one more thing..
My tomatoes are growing like crazy with this warm, sunny weather!
I may have a red one in August...or even July!
I'm so excited!

Have you made any jam this summer?

What kind of jelly did your mom put on your peanut butter and jelly sandwiches?

We always had grape.
Patrick always had Strawberry Jelly.

I don't eat them very often (almost never) so our children have been raised with Strawberry Jelly.

I also caved on the toothpaste.
Bouchers used Colgate.
Glymans used Crest.

We have Colgate.

(We also have Toms and tooth whitening kinds from time to time.)

Anyway.

Happy Thursday.

Love ya
Donna

  2. My mom used grape on our sandwiches. But as a grown up, I love stawberry, too.

I also love succulents. So pretty.

I have been enjoying fun times with friends and good American food. Here's hoping I can still fit into my wedding outfit. Countdown to Sunday, and my daughter's wedding :)

    Happy Thursday to all!

  3. I follow the proud family tradition of buying whatever toothpaste is on sale. On of these years I might make jam again. But this is not that year. Katie and about 10 other people in the world can make that color yellow look so good.

    1. I agree about Katie rocking that color. She reminds me a bit of a younger Demelza (Poldark, of recent) :-)

Yes, she looks a lot like Demelza. Fabulous! Have a wonderful wedding, Susan. Such a blessing to be mother of the bride. You will look lovely.

  6. Beautiful Katie. In the summer we make our PB&Js with sliced strawberries instead of jelly or jam. Yummy! Happy tomatoes and Happy 4th to QLCS!

  7. Have you ever made "Freezer Strawberry Jam"? It is so easy - and is THE best - in my family's opinion.

I enjoy your pictures and dialog. I wish you were my neighbor. :)

Donna and group here, I just read a poem about tomatoes in the book When Green Becomes Tomatoes by Julie Fogliano. I am going to try to add it here: when green becomes tomatoes there will be sky and sun and possibly a cloud or two when green becomes tomatoes there will be leaves and flowers tall and standing straight and someone splashing, jumping, diving down when green becomes tomatoes there will be wings and something inching, green and small and a sweetly, tweetly chirping song when green becomes tomatoes there will be round and there will be red and there will be tomatoes (more red than green) (more round than seed) (more on the vine than way deep down) when green becomes tomatoes

There is no punctuation in this poem...kind of an e.e. cummings work. ;-) love and prayers for ripe tomatoes that squirrels and birds do not eat, jep

  9. Hi Miz Booshay, I didn't like peanut and butter very much when I was growing up so my Daddy would buy me ham salad at Fox's Food Market in Perkasie. It was delicious. I think he spent $1.99 for a plastic container of it. Betsy and Johnny got turkey and cheese or ham and cheese. My Mom used to make three lunches every morning for us. She would put envelopes with quarters into our bags so we could get a drink or an ice cream treat. She was so good at being a mom and making us feel special. She used to write little notes to us sometimes too. I am thankful God gave her to us.

Kaish has never really taken lunch. He has always bought. It makes my life easier for sure : ).

Katie looks beautiful in the picture. I can't believe how she has grown. I pray for her on my way to work some mornings. I am very glad you get to be her Mom!

I have never made jam. My Mom makes strawberry jam that is delicious. We love to put it on her warm rolls from the oven. They are the most delicious rolls I have ever eaten. She is the best. Today my Mom and Dad went to Brockville, PA to the family reunion. I couldn't go because of the wedding last night and my friend George's 40th Birthday today. Kaish had to work also. They just called to tell me they are having a great time. They left Pipersville this morning at 4:00 AM, so I told them to go to bed as soon as they could. I worried about them driving today because my Dad is a very fast driver. He has never been in an accident. I still worry.

I should edit tonight, but I am going to go to bed instead. I love your posts and always look forward to your stories.

P.S. Before I go to bed I will use my Colgate Whitening Toothpaste. We aren't really brand loyal. I buy whatever is on sale.

  10. Hi Donna, I haven't been here in awhile. My oldest son got married June 30th on the beach at Ocean Grove here in NJ. The weather was picture perfect. It was just family and a few of his close friends and we had a blast. The bride didn't wear white and she looked gorgeous. I will see if I can find the link to the pictures so you can all have a look.

That picture if Katie is lovely. She has grown into a beautiful young lady!

Jam...I made strawberry jam a few years ago. It was so much work and I only got 3 jars canned. I wanted to save it for winter, but my kids ate it all before fall had even arrived! Now I make really quick jam in small batches that uses less sugar and it stays in the fridge for a couple weeks. My favorite is blueberry. My kids all have to have strawberry jam. Not jelly, jam! They eat PBJ all the time. I rarely do, although I do like peanut butter toast with jam on it.
