Looking beyond the Suffering

I have just finished reading These Strange Ashes by Elisabeth Elliot.
A few things stand out.

Elisabeth is very honest about her struggles in the jungle.

When our circumstances are beyond our understanding, "Faith, prayer, and obedience are our requirements."

Life is not about what we accomplish...it is the daily living...the daily trusting...the daily obeying.

Elisabeth concludes;

"And so it often is. Faith, prayer, and obedience are our requirements. We are not offered in exchange immunity and exemption from the world's woes.
What we are offered has to do with another world altogether."

Janet tells us in her comments last week...

One of my favorite verses relating to suffering and hope is:

"For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us."
Romans 8:18

We must look beyond the suffering to our hope in Christ.
