We stopped on a sunny hill on the way home from school yesterday.
We had sun for four days. Four marvelous days.

The sun is very bright for those of us not accustomed to it's bright rays.

Last night I heard a song for the first time, it was called Nature Boy and it was sung
by Casey Abrams on American Idol.

The whole circumstance was surreal.

First of all Casey sang the song in the most jazzy of jazz styles.
A style that I kind of hate.

But the control that this boy has over his voice, the wonderful way he is able to hit just the right note is
remarkable. He does something very interesting to me, he picks an odd ball note, a note you wouldn't
ever think to sing, a note your ear is not ready to hear. But he picks that note and sings that note and I
have to say he is a bit of a genius.

Since I know nothing of jazz, perhaps this what all jazz singers do. But it's all new to me and for some reason
I delight in listening to this young boy with his perfect pitch and sweet voice.
He is a musician.

But part of the surreal thing is...Steven Tyler, who is standing and clapping, says his mother sang this song to him all the time when he was a little boy. As far as Steven Tyler goes...that explains everything. LOL ;o)

There was a boy
A very strange enchanted boy
They say he wandered very far, very far
Over land and sea
A little shy
And sad of eye
But very wise
Was he

And then one day
A magic day he came my way
And while we spoke of many things, fools and kings
This he said to me
"The greatest thing
You'll ever learn
Is just to love
And be loved
In return"

"The greatest thing
You'll ever learn
Is just to love
And be loved
In return"

If you were lucky enough to have a mother sing to you, what did she sing?

Encourage one another,
