fall, fall, quiet and pretty

DSC_0519-44

I have been looking for this song for almost 40 years.

I had a college suite mate who sang it.
She only stayed for 1/2 a year and she was a voice major.
But I remember her singing this and teaching it to me.

This morning I found the lyrics in a blog post by googling.
Now that I have the real words I may be able to find more about it.

Snow, Snow, Snow Snow
Snow, Snow, Snow, Snow

Men:
Continue Snow, Snow…..
Women:
Snow Snow When Are You Falling
Snow Snow None Of Your Stalling

Both:
Autumn’s Gone And Winter’s Here
It’s Just About The Time Of The Year
You Know….
For A Beautiful Snow

Men: Snow, Snow….
Women:
Fall Fall Quiet And Pretty
Fall All Over The City

Both:
Cover Every Country Lane
A Month Ago You Might Have Been Rain
But Oh, Be A Beautiful Snow

I’ve Got A Lot Of Jingle Bells
From Last Summer’s Carousels
And I’ve Got A Friend Who’ll Lend Me A Sleigh
All That I Need Is A Blanket Of White
Baby And I Will Go Riding Tonight
Cuddling, Huddling, Keeping The Frost Away

Men:
Continue Snow, Snow…..
Women:
Snow Snow When Are You Falling
Snow Snow None Of Your Stalling

Both:
No One’s Going To Mind The Cold
And Everywhere The Young And The Old
Will Know, For Your Heavenly Show
Come On And Snow Snow, Beautiful Wonderful Snow

Ohhh

There’s A Chill In The Air Tonight
And The Snow Will Be Soft And White

......

Will Go For Your Heavenly Show
Come On And Snow Snow
Snow Snow
Now Is The Time For A Beautiful Wonderful
Snow, Snow, Snow, Snow, Snooow Snooooooowwww!

Let me know if you have heard this or sung it.
The tune goes thru my head every time it snows.

Especially when it is quiet and pretty.

LOOK what Jep found!!

Donna

What a lovely image and song to go with our cold weather today. We had blessed rain, but no snow…not quite cold enough. Is this what the tune sounds like:

I am so grateful that I "found" the song. We have a saying at our house, "Even the blind hog finds an acorn once in a while." That is me, although I will say in addition, God shows me things I would never have thought of on my own. That is our Loving Father, helping blind hogs and me and everyone else who asks. ;-)
      Thanks be to God! jep

I sang this in my high school choir! That was many years ago, but watching this brings back good memories of singing! Thank you! We've had plenty of snow earlier (think Oct. 4 blizzard) but right now we are just cold with barely a dusting of snow. So praying for more!!!

Thank you for brightening my day,
    Leslie in SD

I thought of you today Steph. We get emails from the C.S. Lewis Foundation in Great Britain and today they sent out one about this being the 50th anniversary of his death. The part of the email I thought was really good was:
In "Living the Legacy" of C.S. Lewis, we at the Foundation don't seek to idolize the man or merely to memorialize him, but rather we see Lewis as a model of someone who lived as a Christian in higher education and who used his imagination and intellect in the service of Christ." What a great way to remember him. They are honoring him with a memorial in Poet's Corner at Westminster Abbey tonight. Wish I could blink my eyes and be there. jep

    2. We sang this every year for Christmas program in my High school Chorale! I graduated in 1973 so that was a LONG time ago!

  7. Hi Donna, this isn't directly related to this post so I was just going to e-mail you, but I don't see your e-mail anywhere, so I'll comment with it after all.
I was glancing through one of my son's homeschool textbooks tonight and saw this snippet from a poem and it made me think of you so I wanted to share it:

Drop a stone into the water--
In a moment it is gone,
But there are a hundred ripples
Circling on and on and on.

Say an unkind word this moment--
In a moment it is gone,
But there are a hundred ripples
Circling on and on and on.

Say a word of cheer and splendor--
In a moment it is gone,
But there are a hundred ripples
Circling on and on and on.

--James W Foley "Drop a Pebble"

Thinking of how your words of cheer and splendor circle on and on and on :)

  10. I found your post while searching for these lyrics. Our high school choir sang this song 35 plus years ago and I too sing it in my head when it snows. It is a beautiful memory. THank you for sharing because it helped me too!

My brother sang this in Elem. School in the 60s. I remember it well. Once he sang it when we were sledding with our cousins in this awesome endless hill in Pittsburgh, and even without the harmony it sounded amazing.

  12. I too found your post because I was looking for the lyrics, I think this was the "B" side of a 45 rpm record, late fifties? I too always hear this in my head when it's snowing outside! I don't remember the name of the artist, nor what was on the flip side.
