sweet songs

Thank you for sharing your sweet memories and songs!

I sang You Are my Sunshine to my babies also....and a song from the Great Gatsby called What'll I do.

And then I sang all day long.  I tease the kids that I know a song for every word.
I am also the kind of person who hears a song and can tell you when it was popular and where I was when I heard it.

Such a close connection: Songs and Memories.

To mom. Love Emma.

This year for my birthday...Emma gave me this perfect sign!
She also wrote me the best letter.  I am so thankful for her.

This I sang to little Katie.
She loved it.

(I just learned this is Irving Berlin)

Last night Emma posted this picture to her instagram.

Whitney and Emma.  #notmypic #justmyedit #loveitsomuch #posewin

I can't tell you how much I love this picture.
It's just perfect.

I see humor and art and people I love.

Wishing you a fantastic weekend filled with loads of music and love,
Donna

  2. That's a fabulous IG photo! I sang You are my Sunshine to my children and also to all of my dogs. In fact, I sang it today to my dog at the pet wash. I use their self-serve stall. He was getting upset because of a barking beagle next to us, so I think the song calmed him down a little bit.

I so enjoy hearing "Ol Blue Eyes" sing. At our house when someone says something that sounds like a song title, we all try to get the song out first. Some of the smallest things are the most fun! Emma's photo makes me think of the opening scene to the movie Patton when George C. Scott is standing in front of the flag on stage. ;-) love and prayers, jep

  5. I missed the song post. A family tragedy and funeral have us out of sorts, but songs comfort us. I'm wondering if our Erica sang a song to Brayden that his daddy will continue on with. I do know I break out in song in every situation which sometimes (mostly) annoys Ethan. ;) Spelling word lists with states names really got me started last week. Do you realize how many songs have states names in them. My son does now. And I'm hoping one day when I'm not around he'll think of all those times and smile.

  6. Great pic of Emma and friend! Prayers for Southern Gal...it's good to remember music when times are hard, but I am so sorry they are tough right now.

Late to the party! Happy Sunday,

  7. Music is such a big deal in our world. With all the famous pop stars and their music that is prevalent everywhere, it's the sweet songs of our childhood that stay with us forever. Thanks for the reminder that the lullabies I sing to my little ones mean so much.

I love the "You Are My Sunshine" sign. I was trying to look for one on Etsy. Where did you purchase it? Mahalo!
