short dark days

Baby Ginny says "Merry Christmas friends."

“I wonder if the snow loves the trees and fields, that it kisses them so gently? And then it covers them up snug, you know, with a white quilt; and perhaps it says "Go to sleep, darlings, till the summer comes again.”
Lewis Carroll

“Winter is the time for comfort, for good food and warmth, for the touch of a friendly hand and for a talk beside the fire: it is the time for home.”
Edith Sitwell

Just sending a little happiness on this the shortest, darkest day of the year!

Let your light so shine,
Donna

  1. So lovely. I would love to see a bit of snow. Looking out the train window yesterday it was very brown and green. Only white up at the tops of the big ole mountains.

Ginny is a doodle - I love baby Ginny pics!

  2. Happy Christmas to you in Rome! What a neat place to be. Will you be able to hear the Pope speak?

    1. No, but we were in Vatican City today, my first time. It's so beautiful! We're taking a tour on Wednesday and I'm very excited :-)

  5. That snow blanket quote is too charming.
I saw a car with a Wisconsin plate yesterday when the kids and I were going to visit Carlos' bakery in Hoboken, NJ. I was hoping I would bump into the family so I could tell them that I love Wisconsin because of you. : ) Kaishon and I told Bria about you and Katie while we were walking up the street to the bakery. I am at the hospital this morning, but when I get home, I am going to show her a picture of Katie and Ginny. Bria wants a dog for Christmas desperately. Gary said NO WAY!
