I think NBC is going a bit crazy, but that being said, this was wonderful. I'm pretty sure my mom shorts are all thrown out.... At least I hope so!! Re: your post. I don't know what happened. I got one post you sent yesterday, but not the one about the photos. I have had to restrict anonymous posts because I was getting so much SPAM.
Ummmm.... 1994 called and they want they're shorts back. YUCK! Like I always say, if you were old enough to wear the trend the first time around, you should probably stay away from it when it comes back into "fashion". ;-) PS -- Jimmy Fallon rocks!
I've never heard Jay Leno sing, probably for a good reason. He had a ringer. Jimmy can sing. I bet he did his own parts. They just over dubbed some other singer and Jay lip-synched. The magic of editing.
When we lived in S. Korea I learned that it is not proper for women with children (in Korea) to wear shorts. It gets very warm there in the summer. I choose to no longer wear shorter shorts, bermuda length only. I saw Jennifer Anniston wearing them on some talk show, so if she does it, it should be fashionable enough for me. My poor white legs show every spider/varicose vein. Bathing suits are also a stressful issue for me. Sigh. And I still have kids who love to go to the pool. Aging stinks.
I like to read your comments Rachel, so glad you are here. The last time I wore short shorts I was nine. From then on it has been bermuda shorts for me. Now I only wear pants or dresses. I so understand about the white leg problem and veins. The things we do for our children...have you thought about getting one of those scarves that you tie around your waist sarong style for the pool. I see a lot of younger women in those and they even have them in some of the catalogs like Lands End. I am fashion challenged, so maybe someone else will have better ideas. ;-) love and prayers, jep
Thanks, jep. I wear one of those bathing suits with separate top and bottom. The bottom has a a little skirt. It's from Land's End. HA! great minds think alike. : ) I also have a little cotton knit dress from Old Navy that I wear over the suit to and from the pool. I always love to read your comments, too. You are one of my faves at the QLCS.
If you don't mind, would you (and anyone else here at QL) please pray for my husband tomorrow? He's having surgery to repair his shoulder. It pops out of joint too much and has some damage. It's not a huge thing, but I would love prayers. It is his right arm, he's right handed, and he'll be in a sling for 6 weeks. We're going to need some extra patience all around for the next month or so.
I too will pray that God is with the doctors and nurses and with your husband during his surgery and in his healing and in his ability to handle not using the arm. And, I will pray for you Rachael that you will find in yourself the kindness of caring and comfort that will sustain your husband and your family and that God will hold you all close during this time. jep
Like Amy said, I go for comfort in what I wear also. I'd rather spend my money on classics that will always be "in". (I also buy classics because I do not enjoy clothes shopping and worse than that would be shoe shopping. I know. Do you think I need to give my x chromosome back?)
I have to say I am not usually up late enough to watch Jimmy Fallon but I've seen some cute videos of his stuff. The media just runs away with itself on reporting all this faux drama, don't they? They've started in on Barbara Walters' retirement too. I can't say I'm on the edge of my seat about Leno or Babs (just typed "Bags" instead - ha!) but I loved the video you shared :) Of course, before I get started on the media, maybe I'd better do a quick check on how quick I can throw down when speculating on DA on Masterpiece Mondays. Guilty!
Sunshine today and promises of warmer temps coming soon. Wishing you the same, Donna.
They were wondering about the voices on the Today show this morning. Some of them said Jay sings well too and thought both were real, some thought they had voiceovers. Apparently a producer called and told them that they both started out singing and then later on were replaced with professional singers - so I think your guess was right, Donna!
Funny for me you should publish a story on "old shorts" today. I am watching over my 11 year old granddaughter today and it is 76 here in the Hot-lanta area. She asked if I had any old shorts she could use. Being the pack rat that I am, I still have a pair of plaid short-shorts (daisy-dukes)from..get this....1965 !! I wore a size 5. They are marked Thermo-Jak. She was mortified that they wouldn't zip up, let along button. I am mortified that I have let myself get so huge over the years. I have no idea why I even kept them, except for wishful thinking. I remember the sunny day I bought them with my baby sitting money. Those were the days my friend, we thought they'd never end !!
I wrote a blog post about it: http://fivewalkers.com/journal/2013/4/2/feasts-and-freedom.html In case you want to read it. :) In short, it was a LOT of fun. I could have listened to him for hours, and not just about Bonhoeffer.
I guess I am out of the loop because I knew nothing about those rumors. :P
ReplyDeleteRun! Run fast from the mom shorts!
You have a great day too, Miz Boo!

I am pretty sure I never stopped wearing my "mom shorts." As I tell my kids, I am not going for fashion...I am going for comfort :).
ReplyDeleteMy darling and skinny and cool niece Danielle was wearing these last summer. They are from American Apparel. She thinks they are super neat.

ReplyDeleteone of my former teacher's posted this video on her fb and said her friend was one of the voices.
ReplyDeleteHow interesting. It's so well done!

ReplyDeleteAnd confirmed: Eric Metaxas did not write the questions in the back of the book. ;)
Please tell us all about it!!

Get out of the city with those shorts. NO WAY!
ReplyDeleteI can't believe it.
I think it's the Alaskan in me but i have no desire to wear shorts ever - Capri pants are plenty comfy and cool for this gal :-)
ReplyDeleteAnd of course a couple days later it comes out that Leno is stepping down. I bet he is getting tired of this
