A very simple statement.
Fantastically deep.
I think it's deep because it immediately makes me think of what IS important!
And for me, I can place too much importance on the wrong thing....from time to time....
and the important things gets teeny tiny and forgotten.
I like this poster.
It's all "HEY YOU"....
SOME THINGS ARE NOT IMPORTANT...
and i'm all....
YEAH.
Thanks for the reminder.
Donna Elsie
Oh so true... I need this reminder.
ReplyDeleteThank you. xo
Thanks Donna!
ReplyDeleteAmy in Italy
Indeed.
ReplyDeleteHey, when is that. Grand baby coming?
Tomorrows bible study is the Elisabeth Elliot movie... 10 am!!!
I will be there.
DeleteBaby due May 10.
May 10th? Melinda, you are in my prayers! Hang in there!
ReplyDeleteOh, Donna Elsie, I can relate to the focus on the unimportant. This reminds me of Mary Englebreit's "Snap Out of It!" picture. Sometimes I just need a good perspective kick.
And then there are those times when I realize, "Oops. That was REALLY important", and I let it slip right on by.
The tricky thing: how do you decide what IS and what is NOT important? Any deep QLCS wisdom to offer anyone?
Happy April all,
Di

Another fav Mary Engelbreit: life is just a chair if bowlies!
DeleteI cannot type vowels properly on my Kindle - and then my correction above ALSO had a typo!
Delete(Should be *of* above, naturally)
Oh well, typos are NOT important!!
Fer sure. I also need a poster that says, "Chill Out".
ReplyDeleteThank you for the reminder :)
Sarah P. from Iowa
Di, yes, I love the "Snap out of it' card. :)
ReplyDeleteNo huge wisdom here except two things. Faith and family. Life's too short...
If it is important to Jesus...then it's important to me.
ReplyDeleteloving him, loving others, all others....
living with a thankful spirit and a forgiving heart.
important is different for all of us
What is important to me is a very good question to ask yourself.
Then you can go in that direction with your day, your life.
oooh, the part that got me was "all others" It is easy to love Jesus and my friends and family, but all others... Hmmmm, that is hard to do.
DeleteIt is important to see A ROBIN!!!!
ReplyDeleteWoohoo!!!
Birds are definitely important to me. I love them and think God uses them to encourage me. My kiddo had a big deal state test for writing a few weeks ago. God sent a robin to sing over him and me while waiting for his bus that morning before school. That was the first and only time we have ever seen a robin there, usually they are scooting along the ground looking for worms. God knew he had a test and was telling him "Go, Sam, go! Write, Sam, write!" It was a special blessing.
DeleteSomething I have needed to remind myself often - "In the scope of eternity, will this matter?"
ReplyDeleteKeeping *things* in perspective is a side benefit of going on mission trips. I always come back with a fresh reminder of what is important...and what is not.
Honestly, when people comment about me "doing good" by going on these trips, or about my work at HOPE Clinic I have to say that I'm the one who is benefiting more than the people I'm supposed to be helping. So it's actually pretty selfish that I go.
Isn't it amazing loving others is so fulfilling ?!
Delete(((like))) ...in the scope of eternity, will this matter?
DeleteMay 10th is right around the corner....how exciting!!
ReplyDeleteBabies are important, robins are important, Jesus is important, family and friends - including those at QLCS - are important. How blessed I feel right now. :)
Mary Z
Mary, you're a doll!
DeleteAll true Mary and just what I was thinking. It is a blessing to come here and talk about what is important and share our joys like new grandchildren and our needs for prayer. Joys shared multiply and needs share are divided. jep
Deletewow , reverse strategy....and so effective. WE think everything is so darn important and IT makes us exist in frenzy.
ReplyDeletePrayer, hope and love for each other are important.
Things that are not important to me:
Status
excess
getting the last word
oh...and COmments are important to me...
I read a quote in a book the other day, "That is not my rock to carry!" It has helped me stop worrying about things I have no control over and let them go. Thankfully, God our Father, Son and Holy Spirit are willing to carry all of our rocks if we pray and then let them take over. Having the kind of faith that DB exhibited, being willing to turn to our Lord Jesus...that is what is important. I am blessed by these comments today.
ReplyDeletelove and prayers, jep
That verse comes to mind about how "He has shown you what is good ... to do justly, to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God."
ReplyDeleteQL - and the comments here are a blessing for sure -- which is why I am reading while on holiday!
(((Like))) the verse from Micah
DeleteThanks for those that prayed for my husband today. Shoulder surgery went well. We are at home and he has eaten some soup and is resting comfortably. Now for 6 weeks of recovery in a sling, not using his dominant right arm. That will be challenging. We had a terrific medical team today and great insurance that covers everything. We are blessed.
ReplyDeleteGlad for the good report Rachel!
DeleteGreat news, Rachel! He must be off to a good start if he ate soup with his non-dominant hand; I'd probably be wearing it. ;)
DeleteThanks be to God! Still keeping you in my prayers for the healing stage. jep
DeleteSo true. It's a good reminder to me, especially in the area of sports (Baylor sports, specifically)! I do love me some Bears, but in the big picture, they are not what is truly important.
ReplyDeleteYour commenters above, as usual, are wise... and important.
E.
Sic 'em, Bears!!!
DeleteI've been quietly reading here, not commenting. Because sometimes there's not much to say. And now after weeks of worrying about something that should not take up so much brain power I've let it go. I realize I missed a lot while worrying about the something I couldn't control anyway. Blah.
ReplyDeleteI love reading here. I just do.
I'm so happy to hear that. Thank you.
DeleteSuch good words, always, here. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for the reminder!
