pretty things

This is an image from Martha Stewart.  Those are cotton balls on the tree. Cute.

This sweet illustration is by Margaret W. Tarrant.  I am a fan of scarves.

All of these images are from my Pinterest Christmas board.
I like em so much.

Here's to a lovely weekend!

Encourage one another,

I am marveling at your choices today Donna!
I know very little about math and science, but I know some about childrens' books and the reindeer picture is from a childrens' book written by Lori Evert with photography by her husband Per Breiehagen and their daughter Anja is the model. She was four in the reindeer photo. They are a Scandinavian family and it took them four years to make the book. One reviewer wrote in The Chinaberry catalog: "somehow this family has managed to bring the power of the imaginative world into our much more mundane days …we are brought closer to Belief itself. 'Be Brave. Be Kind. Believe' the story asks of each of us." Love and prayers, jep

Yes, so "Jan Brettish" isn't it and it makes me think of Donna and her Katie photographs in the snow and the snowy "Ring of Seven." jep

  4. Oh, Donna. I love these. I bought a children's book based upon your recommendation: a Child's Calendar with poems by John Updike and illustrations by Trina Schart Hyman. I love it.

  10. I am struggling through the holidays. My middle sister said some things to me that hurt so bad. She is the good child and I am the bad one. Our oldest sister is the one that doesn't do anything at all and for some reason that's okay. My depression seems to be getting worse and I'm trying really hard to cope. Thanks for the beautiful pictures today and always. I've been staying with my dad some. He lives a 2-hour drive from me. He is not doing good at all. Mom died 2 1/2 years ago and he's been going downhill since. He either has dementia or Alzheimer's. They've got him on medication for it. I stayed from Nov.13-20 and Nov. 28-Dec.8th. I'm doing what I can but gosh, I'm exhausted but the holidays will still come. I haven't bought the first Christmas gift but most want cash anyway so that helps. I wish you and your family a very Merry Christmas! Y'all are extra-special folks! <3

  11. Oh my word. The cotton ball tree is the most lovely thing. I want to do that. I haven't put up our tree yet. We usually go and buy one. Gary and I fought about it last year. He said he hates real trees. I said I hate fake ones. He told me we didn't have any money. And we didn't. So, we were treeless. And this year, we have the funds, but it has been such a whirlwind. I don't know if can muster the energy. Tomorrow Gary has to work and I am session free. Kaish and I are flying solo, so maybe, just maybe, I will put my pen down from addressing Christmas cards and take him to buy a tree : ). And then we will get some cotton balls. I think that is the most lovely little tree.

Gary s watching the Avengers right now and Kaish is watching Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer. I am about to edit that last batch of pictures...wish me luck.

Thank you for sharing the beauty : ).
