On Wednesday Katie and I drove to Chicago to take in a few fun Thanksgiving and Christmas events.
Wednesday afternoon we headed to the Christkindlemarket on Daley plaza. Emma has gone to this the last few years because it is right outside of the law office she works at. She sees the tree go up and the little huts erected. She likes to get a boot cup to drink hot chocolate out of and buy a bag of spiced nuts.
We found a nice parking spot near the plaza. This made me happy. It cost 13$ for two hours. That may be the most I have ever paid at a meter. But that was okay. It was worth it.
I love this Picasso. I mean come on. It's Picasso.
The artist never said what it was. He did however have an afghan dog and I think this is what it is.

It was pretty and festive and fun to be together.

DeleteIt is a glass boot mug/cup that comes with mulled wine or hot cocoa. EXCEPT they changed it this year! just a regular old mug. I asked one of the guys working the booth last night what people thought of the change, he said... "everybody hates it"

No Santa's boots? what a shame. My daughter who lives downtown has a boot shaped mug of her own from the Christmas Market in Chicago. Maybe it will be a collector's item now ;-)

Goethe has left his mark all over Zurich - especially signs on places where he slept, ate, hung out. Sarah P is right, he's a wise fellow :-)

ReplyDeleteWe love that Christkindlemarket. Last year one of Molly's friends hopped up on a bench and shouted "The best way to spread Christmas cheer is by singing loud for all to hear!" Before you knew it, Moll said there was a whole group singing "You better watch out....." together. A crowd of festive people can make things happen. :)

Oh, you are making me SO excited for our trip to Chicago! We'll arrive the Saturday after Christmas. It will so good to be HOME. The Market is always a favorite of ours. (And I too adore the Picasso.)
