The Play.

DSC_2113

I told Katie she could wear her 'bold' lipstick for the play.  She was very happy.
She did ask me if this was a good color for her....and I really don't know these things.
I think it looks nice but someone more experienced in the coloring/makeup world would have to tell her.  I am super clueless.

Katie played a character called Fairy Merryperry.  She was the fairy godmother.
This play was written by someone in the Madison area, I think. And guess what?
The man who wrote the music was at the play!  Now. I have googled and can not find his name but he was very kind to be there.

Katie started out as a townsperson.

Singing with Cinderella.  They sang a song called Backwards.
It was cute.

The end.

Music teacher looking so pretty.

All students must be in the play, they work on it all semester.
Most of the kids seem to enjoy it very much.  I didn't see too many long faces.

What a special event!!
We love it because Katie loves every bit of it!!

Well done Blessed Sacrament Jr. High!
Thanks to the teachers and volunteers!!
You really are a wonderful group!

Off to watch the news.
Sending love and prayers across the country.

Encourage one another,
Donna Elsie

  2. Perfect color. I've been coveting Wet & Wild Matte Lipsticks in these bright colors, and they only cost under $3. Congrats to Katie.

  3. I love that color on her, it's very pretty. I was thrilled to find some NYC lipstick at Walmart when I was in the States (I don't like them so much, I am a die-hard Target girl all the way - when I'm home you can hardly get me out of the Target). But this NYC stuff is pretty good and I found it for 1.87! in Alaska even.

    But I digress.

Such lovely photos - well done, you -- from the audience it is tough to get nice pics.

Katie sure is being Light! She fairly glows - you can tell she gets joy from using her gifts and making people smile. And that is how it should be.

The first picture of Katie is just so pretty. I think the color she chose to wear was perfect. I always think that students who choose to be in a play are so brave. I was a shy kid.
The picture of the music teacher is so cool. I like the round glasses.
I have the t.v. on here at work tuned in to the news coverage. I want to turn it, but I can't. It's so emotional. This whole week has been so emotional.

Update on Stacey and Debbie: Debbie was supposed to have a MRI on Tuesday, but she wasn't able to complete it. The doctors said that she does have a soft tissue tumor and are referring her on to an oncologist for a biopsy. So, more waiting. I should let you all know that Stacey's father passed away from cancer when she was 15 years old. They don't have a lot of family to help them out. I guess that's why I've asked you all for your prayers because I feel kinda helpless and it's really heartbreaking to see a close friend go through hard times. I also know what a kind and loving community Quiet Life is. Thank you all for your prayers. Here's a virtual (hug) from me.

  5. Sarah, I was a shy kid too - it would have killed me to be in a play. I got over being shy around age 15, with the help of a very extroverted friend. I came into my own, finally. Or maybe it was just the right time.

thanks for the update - bless their hearts - so much to take in, and especially with the family history.

Donna, it is so lovely that readers know this to be a safe and loving community. what a blessing.

  6. As a theatre major, Katie is a girl after my own heart... She looks/ed stunning in that bold lipstick.
I think she looks a lot like Emma in the second picture! Both beauties.

Sarah, thank you for the update. Please continue to let us know as things transpire. Not sure if you want this, but I'd be happy to mail a note of encouragement to Debbie. Obviously, you don't want to give out your address on the internet, but if you'd like to email me, please do. esimmonsphotography@gmail.com

Donna, I agree with Susan. Your encouraging blog has created a lovely and encouraging community.

We are seeing such amazing goodness in the surviving people of West and the surrounding towns, including the larger cities of Dallas, Austin and Houston. Donations of blood and gift cards, money and household goods is inspiring. There were 50 homes completely destroyed, and 150 damaged, so a lot is needed--and the hands of Jesus are everywhere!

Congrats to Fairy Merryperry! I love that in the last picture of Katie she appears to have locked eyes with you and your camera. Such a sweet moment.

Salt and Light. Yes. Thanks for the reminder, Donna Elsie.

  9. I think Katie looks lovely in that shade, but since I don't wear makeup, what do I know!

Love seeing things through your lens, Donna. Wishing you a sunny weekend.

  11. Such a beautiful photograph of the music teacher. What a thankless job! And yet, so wonderful and needed in young lives. You should tuck that picture in a thank you note to her for all her efforts. I bet she would love the image. :)
    Happy weekend to you!!

We have been off the grid around here with our little one visiting, so we did not know about the West explosion until this morning with the newspaper headlines. We have driven through West and have family land about 70 miles away. Praying for those who have been hurt. "God does not fail us."

So happy for Katie and the successful play. She looks beautiful as always.
Salt and Light, Dear God let it be so in our lives.
    love and prayers, jep

  14. Katie is so beautiful. I am not a good makeup person either. I would say it might be a tad too pinkish and it conflicts with her hair just a slight bit, but again, I wear makeup like once every three years, so I would take my advice with a grain of salt. I would have loved to see her play. How wonderful that the composer came to the play. Very exciting.

I wanted Kaish to be in the play this year. He didn't do it because he said his friends would make fun of him. I spend time with all of his friends every weekend. Tonight I took them to the bounce place. I try to talk to them about being kind and good humans. They seem respectful when they are with me but Kaish tells me they are different at school. Sometimes they ignore him. That makes me so mad. He was not in the play, but he should have been.

I am so thankful tonight that the last suspect was captured. This brother. I am trying to figure out why he would do something like this. It breaks my heart.

    I am thankful for you!

Today, at work, your page was blocked. I thought I was going to die if I did not read the latest installment of Quiet Life. I survived. So glad I could come and visit tonight. Happy Weekend.

  15. Ohhh, what fun, Donna! I love that Katie loves acting.......reminds me of my own kids. Plays really are a team effort, aren't they, and when everyone works hard together you get an amazing performance.

Love the lipstick. Perfect color, I say. Certainly can see a strong resemblance in Katie to Emma more and more these days. I love when my girls are together and there's that familiar *look* they have. Couldn't tell you what it is though. It just looks like they are sisters :-)

Okay, time to get to bed and dream of sunshine. I know it's out there somewhere.....

    Blessings,
    Tammy ~@~
