Chicago Marathon

We are headed down to Chicago to cheer our little red headed girl on as she runs and runs and runs.

Her training schedule has been a bit messed up since she was hurt and then sick....
but she is excited to give it a try.

I'm so excited for her.

I think we will hang out near Moody because they go by one way and then the other.
If you are in Chicago.  Come by and say 'hi'.  (LaSalle and the Wells)

Please pray for a wonderful and quiet race filled with only the proper drama.

Encourage one another,
Donna

Feel strong, Emma! One of my sons-in-law has run the Chicago Marathon twice, but we have never been able to head there to watch. Enjoy, Donna & family!

Here is a prayer for a journey or new undertaking that we will pray for Emma:

"Lord, we pray thee that thou wilt be with Emma and keep her as she goes upon this race. Let no change or chance take her out of thy hand; prosper her on her way, and give her grace always to do the things that will please thee." Amen
love and prayers for you each one...the runners and the watchers, too! jep

  4. My dear friend whose daughter is at Moody is there RIGHT NOW. I wonder if you will pass on the street. Do you remember a woman named Lisa Kjeld on the WTM boards? That is her, and her daughter Kate started Moody this year (-:

Blessings on Emma as she runs. May she "feel God's pleasure." (I only wish I could type with that cool accent!)

Was in Eugene with Madelaine for a brief 24 hours. Good to be home. So hard to say goodbye. I miss that girl like crazy.

    Love,
    Di

  5. Woah! Goooooooo, Emma! I hope the weather holds until the marathon is over. Does she have a time she's aiming for?

It's interesting because I was considering going down to Chicago this weekend to visit family, but my car is having a mystery problem going on and it was suggested that I don't travel much with it until they figure it out. So, I'm instead staining and cleaning out the garden and emptying flowerpots. I guess that's a good thing to do since the weather will soon not be very agreeable :-/

Have a great time. I've watched two marathons from the sidelines and have had fun each time. Bring snacks along--we got very hungry watching and traveling along the route. And it helps you and the runner you're following if everybody in your party is wearing either identical shirts or at least the same color. Otherwise it's easy to get lost in the crowds. And trust me--it will be crowded there. Have fun and post photos!!

  7. I have several friends running it today --- if the weather down there is as picture-perfect-spectacular as it is here in south central Wisconsin, then you're having a glorious time!!!

Run, Emma, run!!! God bless her on the journey. It is such a big undertaking and so emotional at the end. Greg ran it twice -- in 1985 and 2010 (25 years later to prove he could still do it!). Can't wait to hear all about it!!

    1. my hubby did it in 2003 and 2004. I was able to follow along, courtesy of the transportation system :-) and saw him twice and snapped some photos - I was amazed to see him at the end too. Both times beautiful days.

25 years apart is an awesome thing, Mary :-)
