Indian Summer, The Trib, Terrific Teens.

InjunSummer/ChicagoTrib.

Just as the Chicago Tribune did....I will post this every October.

We are not getting an Indian Summer this year.  We have gone from Summer to very chilly fall this year.  For the last three weeks we have been at least 10 degrees below normal every day.
It's fabulous for sleeping but terrible for photo shoots with small children.

CBS Sunday morning was a big sob fest for me yesterday....

I sure like seeing these stories featuring ordinary teens being extraordinary.
It's a good thing.

Encourage one another,
Donna

p.s. I hope your videos don't show as choppy as mine did.

  1. Amazing. Awesome. Sniff.

I hadn't heard of the story of the young man who saw Angels and glimpses of Heaven. Much less the message going all over on youtube.

And the football game ... what a great team of guys. This breeds hope for sure.

    thanks Donna.

p.s. the videos worked great for me.

  3. I did see those on Sunday Morning yesterday ... that is one of my favorite shows and watch it every week (or tape and watch later). LOVED the two segments on the new generation and yes, I do believe in angels ... I have been visited by them. My sister and I always tell each other when have an encounter because we both believe in them.

  5. I love that Tribune story; I haven't looked at Sunday's Trib yet to see if they republished it. We skipped an Indian Summer here too, but suspect it might arrive the day after Halloween. ;-) Missy (in Chicago area)

I always loved seeing that on the cover of the Tribune magazine: as a kid I think that was the only issue I ever looked at!

  7. The illustrations on that Trib piece are the coolest!

I love when there is that glimpse from here to eternity. I have felt it at the beside of those who have just died. And somehow I felt it after our babies were born. I am so glad that it doesn't all begin and end with me, or with this world.

    Happy Monday all,
    Di

We must be having your Indian Summer here. Wish I could send some warmth from here, but I can send my love...and thank you for the stories on Injun Summer, Ben and the football team. Ben attended the same school that my best friend from junior high had her children attend. We read the story in our paper and I cried, but I had seen his video before. And, YES I do believe in angels. There was a story years ago about signs, some people think when they see a penny on the ground it is from a loved one in Heaven, other think that it is something else. On a plane trip to Seattle once, a lady sitting next to us said that after her son died, deer came into their yard and they had not ever had deer before or since that time. She felt sure that it was her son's way of sending his love. I look around for butterflies, because my mother loved them and I see them all the time. I know she is loving us from Heaven. Our priest even preached a sermon a couple of Sundays ago telling us two things: angels are for real and this world is the beginning not the end. Sending love and prayers your way, jep

    1. jep, your comment blesses me. Along with what Di said -- about how it doesn't all begin and end in this world. Assurance in the promises of what comes next brings true peace. thanks.

I believe in signs, too. The day of my nephew's funeral there were two white doves that walked around in my parents' front yard all day. It was November in Iowa. : )

There are signs all around us. You just have to be open to them.
