Come. little leaves

DSC_9870-windsday

 "Come, little leaves,"
Said the wind one day.
"Come down to the meadow
And we shall play.
Put on your dresses
Of red and gold,
For summer is past
And the days grow cold."

As soon as the leaves
Heard the wind's loud call,
Down they came fluttering,
One and all.
Over the meadow
They danced and flew,
All singing the soft
Little songs that they knew.

Dancing and leaping
The leaves went along,
Until winter called them
To end their sweet song.
Soon, fast asleep
In their earthy beds,
The snow lay a coverlet
Over their heads.

All the photos from your Flicker in that first photo, I clicked and clicked and saw so many wonderful pictures...oh, Happy Day and thank you! A couple of the leaf pictures made me think of another poem (great poem from Susan, thanks for sharing):

    Headline

    A leaf on
    the doorstep-
    don't even
    have to pick
    it up to
    know the news. (Cid Corman--Fall)
love and prayers and much thanksgiving for you each one! jep

  5. Autumn is great inspiration for poetry. I love that color blue in the sky of your first picture. I can practically smell it (-:

    Lovely.

  6. It's blustery here today and 61 chilly degrees. No changing leaves yet, but soon.
The short poem, "Autumn" by Emily Dickinson is a favorite of mine.

  7. Oh, and while I'm thinking of it, I sent "Forever Young" sung by Audra Mae to my son to see how he liked it for our dance. I'm not sure he'll go for it, but I sure love it. (And if you go listen on youtube, make sure you listen to her sing "Never My Love" with Billy Valentine. mercy.)

Donna and friends, would you mind saying a prayer for my friend Nicole's husband and family tonight? Nicole had a seizure yesterday morning and ended up in very bad shape. She passed away this afternoon. I have no doubt Nicole is a beautiful angel in Heaven now. Our whole town is mourning her loss. She was only 33 and left a whole lot of love wherever she went.
    Thank you,
    Sarah P. from Iowa
