Here is the color I am going to paint my front door.
A few things have me hesitating. The door is metal. I'm not sure if this calls for special
preparation and paint. I have not found the paint yet. I'm pretty sure I can find Benjamin Moore's Wythe Blue paint here in town....it's just the metal door that has me stumped. Any painting advice?
I am painting over a very dark cranberry color. I have not liked it for 11 years.
I think I would like to try these!
I just love a wall of art. This is, however, outside my wheelhouse (my area of expertise).
Thinking of you.
Praying for you.
Sending you love,
Donna
I love that palest of blue door! Beautiful. I have no idea on the metal... maybe ask at the paint store?
ReplyDeleteLOVE the color!

Happy Weekend, Dear Donna!

I agree with Mindy, it is a lovely color - such a pretty pale blue.
ReplyDeleteTruly Beautiful.
Painting doors it outside of MY wheelhouse :-)
The last photo really resonates -- I'm so thankful for grace.
thankful too for the thoughts and prayers xxx
I thought you were going to post my tattoo photo, and say how much you liked it ;)
ReplyDeleteSome weekend I'm up there we can go shopping on State, buy some prints, and have a hanging day. You can do it, all you need is someone who wants to do it with you! (That's how I am when it comes to these things)
Emma, I completely agree with you about things being easier when you have someone alongside doing it with you!

^^ ditto
DeleteLove it!
ReplyDeleteIf someone is thinking of you, praying for you and sending you love, what more do you need?? :)
ReplyDeleteThe door looks so clean and inviting and the grand piano at the far end of the room looks fab, too! My pianist hubby would love one of those...
Returning the favor with thoughts, prayers and love,

Ask the folks at the hardware or paint store. I'm sure a metal door can be painted and that they'd know how to go about it. :)
ReplyDeleteMy husband was a paint chemist/formulator (retired now) with Valspar. I'll ask him when he gets back from a fishing trip and let you know what he suggests about prepping paint for metal.
ReplyDeleteI'm in the midst of both these projects!! You are so topical to my life! :)
ReplyDeleteGallery wall...so fun! With the gorgeous images you take, you've got that visual side that would make the gallery wall not too hard once you got started. If it seems overwhelming, Pinterest can be a good place to start. They have millions of photos of them and you can just copy one that you like. I cut out templates in wrapping paper and hang them on the wall with tape to see how I like it and then I hang the frames. You can move the templates around for hours or days until it looks right to your eye. I like to live with the template for a few days before I hang the images to make sure it's how I like it. :)
Painting metal....I am in the process of painting a huge mirror (i think its vinyl) that I just bought at a used furniture store. I put a coat of Valspar primer on it that I got at Lowe's that they recommended to me. It says For Glossy Surfaces on it -- assuming that's metal, those mdf covered cabinets, etc. Then I just painted over the primer and its worked great. The primer was very inexpensive.
I say go try it all out!! What's the worst that can happen?? :)
Ooooh, I like the color of that front door. My husband Kris says to use an automotive cleaner/degreaser (found at a part store) to clean the door with first. He said to go ask your local lumberyard about what kind of paint to use on the door.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Emma. Sometimes all it takes is somebody to help ya through a project to get it done.

The front porch is very beautiful. I like those kind of sweet colors. It's so relaxing :)
ReplyDeleteYou can paint the door just make sure it's clean. I used an oil base with a small roller so you don't get brush lines/marks.
ReplyDeleteI always ask at the paint store even if I don't buy my paint there. Most often I do but even if not I ask the important questions like how to prep the door and the best paint to use on metal. Saves lots of money and time. Your door will be beautiful!
ReplyDeleteIs your door already painted? Or did it come with that color powder coated on? If it's already painted you'll just need a good outdoor primer and outdoor paint. I'm considering repainting my red door as well.
ReplyDeleteI hung up a gallery wall 2 months ago. Unfortunately all the frames are still empty. Oops! One of these years I'll print out all the photos/prints that go in those frames. We love refrigerator pickles, but we're dill people instead of bread and butter.
Happy weekending! (PS - I want to see Emma's tattoo!)
yes, show us Emma's tatoo! Or was she just kidding?
DeleteI have a barn red front door that has paint peeling and it's revealing the metal. I'd love to know what to do with it!
ReplyDeleteUse a deglosser on the door. Then Kilz Primer. Then exterior paint. You should be good
ReplyDeleteThank you for specifics!! Will you hold my hand?
DeleteLovely things... :)
ReplyDeleteI hope you get your door figured out. What a fun change that will be.
We repainted our metal door with outdoor paint, I'm not even sure we used primer. So far so good with two dogs scratching to get in and few Alaskan winters under our belt. I was going for eggplant purple but it never quite got there. It's more of a Popsicle purple, but it's grown on me. Perhaps a tinted primer would have helped. Can't wait to see your results!
ReplyDeleteLovely pins!
ReplyDeleteWould all of you QL readers pray for us today? My 17 yr. old daughter, Rachel, is graduating today with 20 other homeschoolers. She is sick with a terrible cough. She will be singing a solo. When Rachel sings, it's "unto the Lord," so she is nervous it won't go well. There will be about 400 people at this graduation. She wants to honor the Lord. Also, my husband will not be able to be with us today, so it will be very bittersweet. The parents get 2 minutes to say something and then present the diploma. Rachel will be missing her dad, and I am afraid I might break down in tears. AND...it has been a crazy week with family coming in from out of town and grandkids underfoot(which I love!) Some of the graduates moms tried to make last minute changes at the rehersal yesterday, and that has been stressful too! Thanks Donna and the QL readers. You are all so sweet and kind.
I just read this - not sure of the timing of it all but praying for much grace and help, Robin - blessings to you all
ReplyDeleteHi Robin,
ReplyDeleteHow did everything go???
