I thought I'd stop by with a little update. Not too long ago, a lot of you prayed for my family. In court yesterday both birth parents willingly gave up their rights to their son and we were granted a summer adoption date. Bittersweet as always, but relief, we hope, for Mr. Monkey. We hope that this new knowledge of permanence in his little life will bring some closure and peace to him. Thank you again for all the prayer. It was an unexpected turn in court yesterday and could only have been God.
Congratulations, Jen! Thank you for sharing your good news. Best wishes to you and Mr. Monkey as you prepare to give more permanence to your family situation.
It's important to keep these things in front of us as reminders. None of us is perfect, but our lives are better when we live closer to His plan for us.
Ouch. I hate being average and small minded... "Moreover, as they go about from house to house, they learn to be idlers, and not only idlers, but gossips and busybodies, saying what they should not say and talking of things they should not mention." 1 Timothy 5: 13
This is an area I have struggled with, more in the past, but it is an easy habit/sin to fall into. My husband has taught me, over the years, to be shrewd--I used to think of that word in negative terms, but have learned when it comes to my tongue, it can be very positive.
I OFTEN have to pray the following, or some form of it...
"I SAID, I will take heed and guard my ways, that I may sin not with my tongue; I will muzzle my mouth as with a bridle while the wicked are before me." Psalm 39: 1
Ha!! Believe we're all guilty at times. But this corner of the world is special, with prayers and support and family and fashion and movies and TV all fitting in nicely, no?
Dear Donna, I think of Saint Augustine's prayer when I think of you... "O God...give us the sense of comradeship with heroes and saints of every age; and so quicken our spirits that we may be able to encourage the souls of all who journey with us on the road of life, to Thy honor and glory."
You give us a place of comradeship and encourage us on this journey and I pray for God's bountiful blessings on you and all here. love and prayers, jep
I love it here! We are winding down from almost 2 weeks of having all my kids around for my daughter's graduation. Now those of us who still live in this house are all sick with head congestion, sore throats, some have fevers, some are coughing and I have a mouth full of canker sores. Thank goodness I didn't have to work today or tomorrow.
Eleanor Roosevelt had a LOT of wise/witty/thoughtful sayings ... someone should have put them all down in a book ... would be good to reference once and awhile.
:-) right there with you, sistah.

All these thoughts about the mind are rolling around in my head right now (like "great minds think alike)
ReplyDeletebut a scripture also popped in:
Isaiah 26:3 (NIV)
You will keep in perfect peace
those whose minds are steadfast,
because they trust in you.
I love that.
(AND I love talking about television shows. and movies. and food :-)
Happy Friday QLCS!
And I love the second part of that scripture, Susan,
DeleteTrust thou in the Lord, for in the Lord Jehovah is everlasting strength.
I always have to remind myself: if i want peace, i need to trust in the Lord!
that 2nd part is wonderful, Robin. :-)
