Thank you.

Thank you for taking the time and effort to leave me such lovely comments yesterday.
I honestly did not want to be a bore.  I felt that was what I have been lately.  Boring.
But it seems either I am not boring or you don't mind boring Donna.

So thank you for letting me know that you are happy to come by and read my blog.
Really and truly. I mean it.

I think I can see Asher or Malachi in this picture.  I see the boys more than I see my own children.
That's kind of neat.

This is one of my favorite pictures.  My favorite picture that I wish I had centered better.

Look at our thick hair.  Holy cow.  Mom is wearing white socks and loafers.  Hello 1950's.

Patience....

This is Cindy.  She can't wait for the wine.  I celebrated my 50th birthday with my sisters in Missouri.

I'm so thankful.
Look at Suzy.  Oh dear.

I was not blogging in 2001.
But like you I will never forget that crisp, sunny, September morning.
I remember feeling fear and being horrified. I had this terrible shaky feeling in my chest.
I also remember camaraderie.
I remember the love.
I remember the helpers.
I remember the hard, hard work.

Life is precious.

Love you.
Mean it.

LOVE the photos of your sisters and you! And as always, the photos you share of your precious children and grandchildren are beyond sweet. Donna, you will never know how much I enjoy your posts. Thank you.

  2. Hello from Alaska - just starting the day here. I love your little photo with the paneling and YES your grandsons are reflected in your sweet face.

The photo of your mom in the loafers with you kiddos is precious. Squinty eyes in the sun foreshadows future Boucher family pics :-)

Your dear sister Sue is so beautiful.

9/11 - you're so right about the comraderie - and the helpers. Lord help us.

I listen to this song often when I am tired and overwhelmed and have the urge to give up. He also has a song "Hard Sun". It helps me sometimes too.

  4. It's surreal to remember this day in 2001, isn't it? A lifetime ago, for my family and for our nation.

I was so happy to see all those names in your comment box, Donna. Velcro for the win!

I didn't know you in 2001...Carrie and Katie were only 1. Carrie and I were going to our first neighborhood playgroup that morning. I remember it well.

I just have to ask...who is that in the section picture? Emma? You? I am just hoping it is a girl with the big flower on the shirt...

You never bore me! For reals. And I love when you post pictures of your family. Yes, the little boys do resemble you. It is neat how that stuff works. The picture of Emma and Katie is too cute. Little Katie's arms sticking out like "surprise, I'm here!". Those baby sisters are pretty special.
I was in the middle of thyroid surgery during the 9/11 attacks. I remember being in recovery and the nurse telling me what had happened.

So grateful for your NOT EVER boring presence here at QL Donna!

Today one of my devotions was about 9/11 and Father Mychal who was one of those brave souls trying to help on that terrible day. The devotion writer said that Father Mychal wrote this prayer:

"Lord, take me where you want me to go.
Let me meet who you want me to meet.
Tell me what you want me to say,
And keep me out of your way."

    love and prayers, jep

    1. My daughter served on a mission trip rebuilding in New Jersey. They took one day before their flight to visit the memorial in NYC. The experience was very meaningful for their whole team. If you can make it happen, I recommend it.

    2. Emma, I deleted my lines about wanting to go to new york so badly...and how I would visit the memorial....and cry.

      Some day. God willing.

  11. About to step on the ferry to head across one Great Lake for a day with Jill Briscoe.. And my heart is grateful. That's my response to terror and attack. I will love big. And out loud.

Thanks for being a place where we can do just that, dear QLCS and Donna Elsie.

    Love you. Mean it.

LIKE also. I'm going to remember that, Stephanie. Love Big and Out Loud. It is so easy to feel love but keep it to yourself and not make an impact.

  17. Miz Boo you know you and yours are always welcome chez moi! Even if it is a teeny, tiny West Village walk up. If you don't stay with me I'll play hooky and we can run around the city doing fun things.

  18. I was just telling a friend at lunch today about my girlfriend Ryan in NYC :o)
    She wondered who Ryan was.
That is a very very wonderful invitation. Thank you!!!

  19. Oh, Donna. What a sweet post. And I can't believe you posted this beautiful Pearl Jam song. It's the one I plan on using for my husband's memorial dvd. It is a toss up between this one and Steve Earle's Pilgrim. I'm not telling you this because I'm sad or anything - I am not. I'm just telling you because we have such similar taste in music. xo

  20. I first heard this song when Suzy was sick. It's so beautiful.

Your posts are three minutes of absolute pleasure in my day. Sometimes, I don't have a spare moment to write, but you can be certain that I am composing posts to you, in my head, all the rest of each day.

I like pretending I really know you and that we are the best of friends!

  22. Whoah, love that video...beautiful performance. You have the best and most interesting links and insights. Boring? I think not. Love your blog, just too lazy and selfish to comment most of the time, I bet like lots of us. But you deliver anyway!!! Thanks Donna. Get Karen in the car and have a knitting weekend in the smoky mountains

  23. I've been reading for a relatively short fraction of your several years of blogging, and I just wanted to say that I love your blog. We're at completely different points in life (I'm in my late 20s and unmarried), but I look forward to your ever optimistic, see-the-best-in-everyone attitude that shines in all of your posts. Thank you for blogging, and please keep it up!
