Are you watchig American Idol?

Watch Malaya sing I'm Changing here.

Malaya is sixteen.  Can you believe her confidence and stage presence?
She is a real goofy girl and acts all of her sixteen years most of the time...
but gosh...this was outstanding.

Another girl sang the song from Frozen and I couldn't understand the words.  I wished Malaya would have sung it.  Cause I know she could do it justice!

There is a rocker named Caleb Johnson who reminds me very much of Meatloaf.
This guy can sing!  He is only 22.  Wild.

Caleb on YouTube

He has not sung a song that I LOVE yet.  I'd like to hear something I'm more familiar with...
Maybe something like "Sweet Child of Mine" by Guns and Roses or "One" by U2.

But as far as I'm concerned he is the front runner.

Do you have any favorites?

Again, I have only one favorite on The Voice.  That great couple Dawn and Hawkes.

And Dancing with the stars starts next week.

Singing and a dancing, great books to read and the temps climbing out of the 30's....

Life is good.

Encourage one another,
Donna

p.s.  Thank you very much for sharing your most life changing books  in the comments yesterday!!
A big thank you to all!

  1. Haven't watched this season but checked out the Caleb videos after reading your post. Oh. My. Goodness. Awesome voice, and your Meat Loaf observation is spot on. Sending him "in it to win it" thoughts.

Shared your post from a few weeks ago with the Misses -- the one about Katie's hair and the radio comment. They were appalled but unsurprised by the host's remarks and saddened that he had deflated Katie's enthusiasm for short crops. My family of short-haired gals wants to remind your daughter that she'd be gorgeous and feminine with ANY or even NO hair. Her beauty is in her spirit. Tell her: Don't let a foolish stranger's remark change what she knows to be true; that is, when one loves as she does and is loved as she is, one is beautiful inside and out.

    1. Thank you Melissa,
I took that post down because I had offended. You know me. Not my intention.
With a little brown hair dye...Katie would fit right in with the Mental multivitamin clan.
I am happy to hear from you. Thank you for the kind comment!

  2. I'm a huge Caleb fan! He hasn't missed a note. I think it's the Southern Rock influence in my childhood, but I pull for the rockers like Chris Daughtry and Bo Bice. Yes, I know Carrie beat Bo that year. ;) The Voice? I love Alaska and Madi along with Dawn and Hawkes. It's all about the duos. Glad you'll be warming up. We're warmer, but the March winds are wild and chilly right now.

    1. There were plenty of books I forgot about yesterday and saw them all listed in the comments when I went back. But I didn't see The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society and wanted to mention it. I've also read Redeeming Love five times and counting. ;) You have an autographed copy of Christy!?! My copy is worn, but still beautiful.

No Idol or Voice watching this year and I do miss it. Thanks to yesterday's post, I've added to my "to read" list and I haven't been able to stop thinking about books that I've loved -- especially from my childhood. I was fondly remembering the Trixie Belden series (love!), The Happy Hollisters, The Tuckers, The Bobbsey Twins, Five Little Peppers and How They Grew, Rebecca of Sunnybrook Farm, Anne of Green Gables, The Secret Garden, etc., etc., etc. Thank you for prompting that trip down memory lane!!! xoxo

Mary, I loved those childhood books too! I collected Happy Hollister books and Bobbsey Twin books and got them for birthdays, etc. I still have them and just can't give them to the Goodwill or a book sale. My kids will have to figure that one out someday. HA!. And The Secret Garden. How I loved/love that book. The descriptions of the crocus coming up out of the earth and the birds singing in that enclosed sanctuary...books can stay with you for such a very long time.

  4. I like Caleb, and CJ, and Alex, and Jena. This week's performances were so much better than last week. I disagree with Harry about this year's cast of talent being better than all the rest. Candice glover is better than anybody this season, or ever. IMHO

    1. I love Harry but also disagree with him. Both country guys are so average.

    2. Not watching, but was able to watch Candice last season quite a bit and she was/is amazing!

Thank you Donna for keeping me informed about Idol and the others. We just seem to stop watching TV this time of the year. Must be the fireplace draw in the study…too cozy! I enjoyed all the book suggestions yesterday and have some on reserve at the library. Thanks all!
    love and prayers, jep
