You, wonderful you.

Thank you for sharing your vacation stories yesterday!  They were charming and fun!

****

We have had storms and basement runs two days in a row.
Our particular street seems to be missing the worst of it.

Thirty houses were hit and damaged from a tornado last week just eight houses away from us.
I still can't believe it.  Tornadoes are so random.

Last night Patrick called for me to come outside and see the sky.

This is looking west.  Behind me was a huge rainbow that made the whole arc.
It was spectacular.

*****

Katie and I watched part of Summer Stock last week.  This perfect dance shows the genius that is Gene Kelly.
To me, he is perfect.

Enjoy!
Encourage one another,
Donna

  1. I was going to refrain from popping in here so promptly, but I couldn't wait to say I LOVE Summer Stock. Love it. Gene Kelly is the Huge.

I had (have) such a crush on him. When he and Phil Silvers sing with the big feet and overalls, it cracks me up every time. The clip of him singing to Judy G that you have here is just dreamy.

When my girls were in grade school we had a VHS tape from a PBS broadcast of it and they loved to watch again and again.

Also... I loved the vacation recollections. I could've hit the {{{LIKE}}} button on all of 'em!

I heard about the storms in Chicago - glad you are fine up in your neighborhood, Donna. Bye~

  2. I love Gene Kelly too. One of my all time favorite movies is An American in Paris. Swoon!

  3. P.S. I could not get the clip to work on my kindle so I watched Gene sing the same song to Judy Garland on YouTube. I just now got the clip to work so I see it is not the same version. Man could he dance.

    Gene Kelly...dancing perfection!
Is it just me or does he look kind of like the pictures of your dad you have shared?
And, TBTG for basements and tornadoes missing you....and beautiful Wisconsin sunsets.
    love and prayers, jep

  5. I adore Gene. What amazes me even more is the way his dance scenes were filmed. He'd dance for the camera, with no taps, and then do the dance again in a dance studio (with taps) for sound. As a tapper, a dance this complex must be ridiculously difficult to get spot on between the film and the sound.

Also? I want those shoes. :)

I really enjoyed all of the stories from yesterday, too. Somehow we dodged the bad storms in southern Iowa. What a blessing it is to end the day with a beautiful sunset and a rainbow! I hope Mother Nature calms down now. We are supposed to have really nice weather the rest of the week. Yes!!

Love the video. Thanks for sharing.

Gene Kelly is fantastic!! I love watching him dance. One night n college, a local theater showed a double feature of Singing in the Rain and An American in Paris. That was the first time I saw Gene dance on the big screen and I was in love!! :)

So glad the storms are over and that you are safe. It was scary around these parts last night. Holy Cow! I have never seen lightening like that in my life!

P.S. I've been daydreaming about vacation ever since yesterday's post. Thanks to all for sharing your sweet memories!
