Well.  Since the Disqus comments were such a pain, I decided to delete them and add blogger comments. Which I thought would be as simple as clicking a button. Unfortunately.  After an hour and a half of clicking buttons and searching google....I am afraid  I have royally messed this up.  So now I do not have any comments.  If you know things about blogger and how to add comments, email me at booshay6@charter.net and tell me what to do.
I need to step away from this problem now.
Very bad day indeed since the comments are the best part of my blog.

  2. Yay! I can once again converse at the Quiet Life haven! Sorry it was such a pain.
In using the Blogger comments, be careful when you delete your spam - it can be tricky to decipher which you're deleting junk if you're sleepy... twice I have deleted my precious (rare) published comments. Grr.

  3. Looking forward to your blog post Monday about the awards show - I love those! I'm waiting for Lincoln and Les Mis to come to my fair town. The only one of the nominated films that I've seen in the cinema here is the Playbook movie. I like Bradley Cooper but on the fence if I want to pay the dough to go see it.

Will you do a double-feature blog (Downton Abbey AND Award Show) on Monday?

  5. Coming over to say that if Hugh Jackman and Anne Hathaway don't win I will be staging an Oscar coup. ;-) I have not seen anything else. I really like that little Jennifer Lawrence gal, but I hate paying so much for movies. ($12 per person here) so I will wait for that one on Netflix. Les Miserables, well that had to be seen on the big screen, no two ways about it.

Did you see The Poker House with Jennifer Lawrence? Or The Burning Plain? She was amazing in both movies, but The Poker House especially.

I totally enjoyed the book, but was very disappointed in the Life of Pi film. Great acting, but the pace was too slow. My husband groused that it was too much like Castaway and that he didn't want to see a whole movie about Wilson.

P.S. I hope Katie is enjoying her club season!

Donna, Zero Dark Thirty was a good film, though it made me extremely anxious, even more so than Argo, which I also liked. I was not prepared for the torture scenes, which are numerous. Jessica Chastain, loved her in The Help, was very, very good. Perhaps she will win. Both DeNiro and Cooper are amazing in SilverLinings (imo, quite possible DeNiro will win the Oscar). I thought Jennifer Lawrence seemed a bit young for her role, but she was not the conventional beauty I would have expected, so that was refreshing. The story was interesting - a dark comedy, but the different from anything I've seen and quite amusing and very sweet. I would recommend it - 4 or 4.5 stars/5.

    Love the movies!

WooHoo, I can leave a comment! I haven't been able too in a long time. I am one happy camper!

The only movie I have seen is Lincoln and I have seen that twice. I am going to go see Les Mis by myself next week, no one I know wants to see it. That's OK, I actually don't mind going to the first matinee of the day. It is usually me and 20 other people.

  13. I am so glad to know that the QLCS is back online. And I don't have to type DUI or DOI or DYE or DIE until I get the right moniker. Yahoo! Hope this reduces some stress for you, Donna Dear.

My film comment on repeat: I have only see Les Mis and I say Anne should win, even though I haven't seen the other women's performances.

    Happy Thursday,

I have not seen any of the movies you are asking about... but my friends that have seen it said they were not impressed either with Sally in the part of Mary Todd... I live in Lexington where Mary Todd's child hood home is and I hear that Sally came to town to study up on her.

  17. It's fun to read your movie commentary. I'm not a big movie watcher and I like hearing what you like and don't like. I'm a big book reader and I'm starting to crochet again so I like all of your knitting/yarn related things too. This is a really random comment! :)

  26. So glad I can finally comment here. I have had trouble doing so. I've been tweaking my blog and lost my title. It's a pain. I have been reading your blog for a while and really enjoy your photography. Your pictures of your family are so amazing. I can't take a good picture either in front of or behind the camera.

  27. It's interesting to come here and see the different look to your comments. I guess I hadn't realized that the old system didn't work well for a lot of your readers. So happy that it does work for lots of people now :-)

Can't say I'm familiar with many of the movies, but totally cheering for Les Mis to win each of their nominations :-)

    Blessings,

    Donna,
We are on the same page when it comes to movies. I've seen pretty much what you've seen, and wasn't much interested in the others. The Beast movie has become of interest, will try and see that. Best movie for me would be a toss up between Les Mis and Argo. Recently saw Promised Land, loved it. Cute comment about Sally Field. Bless her heart. I do like her, and yet she bugs me sometimes. But I do love Places in the Heart. Will be tuning in for your fashion review.
