Oscars 2020 Red Carpet

They all wore their best dresses already, I guess.

Most of the dresses I loved were worn by guests of the stars...their partners. :o)

If you saw James and his wife Julia Carey on the red carpet I am positive you knew I would pick this dress.  Every time.  I will pick a pretty dress like this!!!  The designer is J. Mendel.   I love this so much.

It's a little hard to see but Kate Fahy looks so lovely and calm in her deep green dress.
This really is a favorite of mine this year.

Here is Outlanders' Caitriona Balfe.

She chose something unique and pretty but not weird.
So many ugly weird dresses this year.

This was definitely the prettiest unusual dress of the night.
That pink color is just right and I love the fabric and perfect bow.

Not too big.
Not too little.
Just right.

Julie Louis Dreyfus always looks stunning.  This is on the verge of ho hum, if you can image that, but I decided to choose it because there was so little else that I wanted to share.
The fit, the color, the neckline, the jewels.
Her figure.
She is amazing.

I honestly could do a whole post of the flops.
But I don't do that.

Be the light.
Be the light.

 :o)

My friend Crissy, just loved this and hoped I would post it today!
Regina King looks absolutely stunning.
The color and fit of this dress are beautiful.

Another stunning couple.  This is Mark Ruffolo and his wife Sunrise Coigney.  Sunrise is wearing Valentino and I love her bright pink, layered dress!!  Beautiful!

Lucy Boynton is an American-English actress...and I love her style.  I will be watching her because when I was looking for her name I spotted what she wore to the Critics Choice awards a month ago and I loved it too!

Lucy played Beatrix Potter as a little girl in Miss Potter and is currently in The Politician on Netflix.
(Which I also just found out)

She should have played AMY in Little Women.
I'm like a dog with a bone.
hahaha

This is Joanne Tucker (partner of the amazing actor Adam Driver) She is just perfect in this pretty dress!  The flowers are divine.
After searching I found that Joanne is wearing Oscar de la Renta!!  It's vintage too!!!
My favorite!
She looks beautiful and totally at ease.

Winner, Winner Chicken Dinner.

ha!

After the Oscars there are lots of big parties.
I saw a few outfits that were kinda cool....

These two make a perfect pair, don't they.  Dwayne Wade and Gabrielle Union.
Her dress is different and feminine and pretty.  His lace coat is so odd but works here.
I really like this!!

Katie Couric out at the party....
Simple.
Crisp.
Unusual.
Cool!

Tra La.

The show was host-less again last night and it suffered for it.
The acceptance speeches were long and strange.
There were two funny bits and Elton John sang an average song....and won...which I was happy about...You know Rocketman was my favorite movie of the year....

But as usual the Brits brought the funny bits.
James Corden and Rebel Wilson came out in CATS outfits and made fun of their terrible movie and Olivia Coleman just came out and was funny.

Anyway,
that's what I've got for you this morning!

WINNER:
 “Parasite”
“Ford v Ferrari”
“The Irishman”
“Jojo Rabbit”
“Joker”
“Little Women”
“Marriage Story”
“1917”
“Once Upon a Time in . . . Hollywood”

The only movie I would recommend for this list is Ford v Ferrari.
As for The Irishman, Little Women, Marriage Story and Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, I was not a fan of any of them.   I do look forward to seeing Jojo Rabbit.
What did I enjoy this year?
Rocketman
Downton Abbey
Judy
Last Christmas

Do you like any of the dresses I chose this time?
Are there any movies on the list that you LOVED?

Thanks for visiting!

Your red carpet hostess,
Donna

  2. I love the dresses you chose! Especially Joanne Tucker and Julia Carey ❤

You are so right about Lucy Boynton - she would've been an excellent Amy!

    2. Meant to also say ... Gosh, I remember young Beatrix Potter, in the movie (which I loved)! She's really grown up! And it makes me feel a bit old ;-)

  3. My taste is definitely of the ho-hum, prudish-to-the neck variety. But I am so with you on your #1 choice! I love everything about it. AND it has pockets!

    1. All my choices are unintentionally modest. I love a deep neckline or plunging back.
But it looks like I'm the prude this time around.

  4. I almost sent you a message on FB to get your picks! Haha! I loved Regina's, Julia Corden's and Adam Driver's partner. Also loved Florence Pugh's teal ruffles and Gal Gadot. Was disappointed so many were underwhelming, at least for the Oscar's which I think should be over the top!

    1. I liked Florences' dress....except for the high low part and for the fact she ruined Little Women. I can't. I just can't.

    2. Julia Carey’s and Caitriona Balfe’s were two of my faves, too. I liked Laura Dern’s as well. The Irishman and Hollywood were both way too long and not my cup of tea, but I liked all the other nominated films- although most were very sad. I’m so sorry Amy ruined Little Women for you. I really loved it.
P.S. I really enjoyed Rocketman, Downton Abbey, Judy and Last Christmas, too.

    3. Laura Dern's dress reminded me of a a hostess at the High Noon Saloon.
Will you read Parasite out loud to me so I can play candy crush on my phone while I watch it? Cause that is the real problem.

  6. My favs were Margo Robbie, Charlize, and Regina, oh shoot, what's her last name? My 22 year old daughter liked the lady who had on the silver metallic dress with the hood. 😱 Sorry, I should have done better research before commenting. ☺

  7. I've already blabbed with Donna about this, but let me go public [now that I can comment over here] by saying that Janelle Monae was my fave. The silver with the drapey hood. SO modest, unusual but not SUPER weird - I just LOVED it. :)
