DSC_5666-2pp

Before the Packer on Sunday game we took a little drive around our neighborhood.

Southern Wisconsin.

We stopped at my favorite barns. I set up my camera and Katie took the picture.

Here is what I mean by I set up my camera.

I put the camera on (A) for aperture priority and then I set the aperture to 1.8.
I told Katie where to stand and told her to hold still and shoot.

And really. I couldn't have done any better.

(I love my spontaneous, adorable husband.)

We don't have to drive far to see this sight.

The corn is super tall this year.

DSC_5655

It is at least 8 feet tall.

When we got home I made The Pioneer Woman's Potato Skins.
I have never done this before but the step by step instructions led the way.

Patrick really loved them just like this.

DSC_5702-cr

I like mine like this.

They were done just in time for half time.
Packer's won!

Very, very good!!!

A goodbye to October poem. One of my very favorites.
Thanks for reminding me of this one, Melika :o)

October's Party
George Cooper

October gave a party;
The leaves by hundreds came-
The Chestnuts, Oaks, and Maples,
And leaves of every name.
The Sunshine spread a carpet,
And everything was grand,
Miss Weather led the dancing,
Professor Wind the band.

The Chestnuts came in yellow,
The Oaks in crimson dressed;
The lovely Misses Maple
In scarlet looked their best;
All balanced to their partners,
And gaily fluttered by;
The sight was like a rainbow
New fallen from the sky.

Then, in the rustic hollow,
At hide-and-seek they played,
The party closed at sundown,
And everybody stayed.
Professor Wind played louder;
They flew along the ground;
And then the party ended
In jolly "hands around."

I was delighted to see the colors in the background mimicking Katie's hat.

I think I need to make more of those hats.

Knee Socks!!!

DSC_5299-2

So stinkin' cute!

DSC_5314-2

Yeah, I'm lying in my stomach in the neighbors yard.
Something wrong with that?

A boy rode by on his bicycle when I took this picture. She was embarrassed to be in the middle of a 'photoshoot' in public...but was curious about the boy.

Hum?

Gathering Leaves

by Robert Frost

Spades take up leaves
No better than spoons,
And bags full of leaves
Are light as balloons.
I make a great noise
Of rustling all day
Like rabbit and deer
Running away.
But the mountains I raise
Elude my embrace,
Flowing over my arms
And into my face.
I may load and unload
Again and again
Till I fill the whole shed,
And what have I then?
Next to nothing for weight,
And since they grew duller
From contact with earth,
Next to nothing for color.
Next to nothing for use.
But a crop is a crop,
And who's to say where
The harvest shall stop?

Leaves

by Elsie Brady

How silently they tumble down
And come to rest upon the ground
To lay a carpet, rich and rare,
Beneath the trees without a care,
Content to sleep, their work well done,
Colors gleaming in the sun.

At other times, they wildly fly
Until they nearly reach the sky.
Twisting, turning through the air
Till all the trees stand stark and bare.
Exhausted, drop to earth below
To wait, like children, for the snow.

Happy Thursday!
