Homecoming. Go Wildcats!

In 2010 I took these pictures.
I really had to search for them.  I looked at all the other years and finally googled "Quiet life homecoming' and there they were.

I love google.

This year Katie will be IN this parade.
She will march with the volleyball team.  I am helping with the parade.
You know decorating the 'float'.  It's the freshman job.

What a crazy week it has been.  I tell you this public high school business is busy!
There is something going on every day!  Volleyball practices, volleyball games, informational meetings, UW vs. Penn volleyball game, parade, get together, team dinners, homecoming dances....and so it goes.  Yikes.  It's a lot.  Katie has all A's so far.  Fortunately school is off to a slow start.  Not quiet as rigorous as Blessed Sacrament.  Which is actually a blessing.

    1. Amy...someone's gotta do it! It's like pulling teeth to get people to volunteer.

    2. At our basketball boosters meeting last night at least ten minutes was spent getting us up to speed on how few people volunteer. There's a lot of burnout in volunteer groups! Glad we can be the wind beneath their volunteering wings (-:

It's Homecoming week in our town, too. My family's ins. agency is going to be in the parade. The weather is supposed to be sunny and 80 degrees. It's going to be fun!

Have a fun time with everything!

Thought I'd mention that since my friend Nicole's passing yesterday has made such an impact on our entire town (she was that kind of a gal...full of life) during the parade all float entries are going to tie red ribbons on their vehicle's mirrors in remembrance of Nicole. She was a leader in our community and friends with everybody. I'm sure she'll be there in spirit. Very bittersweet for our town.
I know you don't know Nicole, but I wanted to share the story anyway. Thank you for your prayers, again.

It's so shocking and sad when one so young and full of life dies too soon. God bless her family and all those who loved her.

Sarah, so sorry for the loss of your friend. You must live in a special, close community which is hopefully helpful at a painful time like this. Thinking of you with love.

Sarah, praying for the repose of Nicole's soul and for her family and friends in this time of sorrow. It is so hard when someone so young dies.
Dear God, please be with and comfort all those who knew Nicole and welcome her into Your presence. Amen
      love and prayers, jep

  3. Homecoming week is next week here. I have NO idea what that means, but I know that Brennan is excited about all the goofy clothes he gets to wear to school each day. It's the little things!

Do you remember when Katie was struggling with getting her work organized and done? Does it seem like a long time ago? And now look at her! She's doing great. Yahoo. Cannot wait to see those volleyball girls and the float. Way to be a helper, mom.

Katie is keeping you busy and young at heart with all these activities. Enjoy it all and please take lots of photos to share. Seems like the older our children get the faster the years go by.

  8. Your posts often bring tears to my eyes, but this one especially. Michaela will be fourteen in January and it is amazing to me how much she has changed since she was ten, and I was just thinking about it in particular yesterday (I think...maybe the day before). Thank you for having such a lovely, safe place to visit. I'm feeling a bit undone the last few days.
