What shall we do until January?

New post up at The Pioneer Woman's website!

It's one that I think most of you will like!

It's The I-Miss-Downton-Abbey Viewers Guide by little ole me.

Read the comments if you need MORE suggestions!
Lots of comments!

I can't stand Mr Selfridge or Gosford Park which are recommended over and over in the comments
but I can only recommend what I really like.  I turned Gosford Park off in about 15 minutes.  Snooze.
Mr. Selfridge started off with him being an adulterer so I didn't like him straight away.

Everyone reminded me of Larkrise to Candleford so I am going to start with that one.
I've watched it, but not from beginning to end.
I think I have also seen bits of Return to Cranford.  But it has not stayed with me
like the original Cranford!

Encourage one another,
Donna Elsie aka Miz Boo

  1. I loved reading your list! Some of your choices I can (and have) watch over and over. Pride and Prejudice, Sense and Sensibility, Persuasion -- all faves. Death Comes to Pemberley was a great new addition. I DVRed it and have watched more than once. Have you read the Outlander series by Diana Gabaldon? Eight books total, with the first one written over 20 years ago. FINALLY made into a miniseries that premiered last summer and then took a six month hiatus and is returning in April. The books are chockablock full of interesting characters and storylines (primarily taking place in the 1700s) -- with lots of history tossed in as well. I'm looking forward to it filling some of the Downton hole in my heart. :)

  2. I read your list and agreed with all that I had seen. I didn't like Mr. Selfridge (without seeing it) because I was aggravated that it was the same concept as Paradise which I loved and caused it to be canceled. Blah. I have to see The Duchess now. Sense and Sensiblity is one of my all time favorite movies. I want to see Death Comes to Pemberley. Is there somewhere I can catch it? I thought PBS was going to rebroadcast it, but I haven't caught up with it.

Larkrise to Candleford is boring. All about the Postmistress and I don't particularly like her character. Questionable relationships and I don't appreciate the feminism or the way the daughter is portrayed. The resolutions of each episode's issues are questionable to say the least. I wanted to like it and stuck with it for two seasons. Cranford is fun.
I love All Creatures Great and Small!

Call the Midwife is a huge favorite!!!
I guess I didn't see it on this list due to time period.
