Worst event photographer ever. Stepping Heavenward.

I'm not always the worst event photographer.
But I was on Saturday.

By the time the Graduation party started I was physically spent and then came to socializing.
There was no time to be on the ball.
This is why you should not be your child's wedding photographer, I guess.

On the menu was Lou Malnati's pizza and their famous Lou's salad.  It was SO good.
Drinks were BYOB and I picked up some Spotted Cow in Wi. to bring down for the disadvantaged Chicagoans.    We also had Coke, Diet Dr. Pepper and Diet Squirt.
Katie thought I was goofy to buy Squirt...but it was a hit :op
I threw a few bags of chips on the table and we are all set.

For dessert, Emma's dear friends Megan and Whitney made banana pudding.  I loved the addition of the blueberries and strawberries and raspberries.

It was really a great little party.

Mary Z and Kathyb were lovely to come to the party!
Thank you dear friends.

My niece Lindsay and her little girl Kate came celebrate with Emma!
Thank you Lindsay!  What a delight to have you at the party!

I was happy to meet many of Emma's friends from her internship at Trilogy and from her counseling classes.

The sun shone bright and hot from 2:00 til 6:00.
The rain and thunder rolled in at 7:45 and the guys who were still at the party brought everything in for us.  It was perfect. Thanks guys.

Second edit

Stress be gone!

Dear Elisabeth Elliot died yesterday.  She taught me many things thru her radio ministry, books and tapes.
She is home.

Encourage one another,

Because of Elisabeth Elliot I started this blog in 2004.
She said that older women should encourage the younger women to love their husbands and children.  (Titus 2)
She encouraged me to encourage.
Rest in beautiful, perfect peace dear Elisabeth.

  1. You did a dandy job. It is so hard to get good candids of food. It just sits there. Lou Manati's salad is my favorite favorite. So is Emma. Blessings to you all!

  2. Great photos - but I am not exactly unbiased. :-)

    Yummy looking food, BTW.

Elisabeth Elliot - a hero in the faith. I am so glad she inspired you to write in the first place. We are richer for it.

  3. Congratulations to dear Emma, of whom I have fond memories from when she was in choir with me. Terrific photos!

Elisabeth Elliot has been a mentor and teacher to me. There's a special spot of honor in our home on one our of bookshelves. It's filled with her books. It's time for a re-read, I think.

I remember how sad I was when she stopped sending her monthly newsletter. What treasures they were, and I've saved them all. And I still have the printouts from her radio show. It's the only radio show I've ever troubled to print out transcripts of. Blessings to husband Lars Gren who has been by her side, loving and caring for her all these recent years. Thanks for honoring her here, Donna.

Emma's party sounds like it was fun. And I am so glad you posted a photo of yourself with Mary Z. and Kathyb. They look like lovely, dear women and I just knew they would be from their QLCS comments! Elisabeth Elliot inspired me so much through the years and I had not heard that she had passed. What a Proverbs 31 woman and giant in the faith. I am so looking forward to meeting her in heaven.

Joy and more joy, a fun party with dear friends (nice to be able to put faces with the names we pray for from QLCS) and a dear mentor going home. And, great photos to let us share in the fun. Thanks be to God for you each one! love and prayers, jep

Congratulations to Emma! What a hard worker she must be. Your lunch looked yummy. Your photos continue to inspire and amaze.

    Fun Knitter

  7. Congratulations to your dear Emma! I am so happy for her. The food looks delicious. Squirt always makes me smile!

When I saw that she had passed I thought of you right away. Thank you for encouraging me so often. I appreciate you tremendously.

  8. So thankful that you were encouraged to encourage way back when. What a blessing you have been to those of us in the QLCS community. (Your brand of loving encouragement works on not-so-young wives as well, thank goodness.) Rest in peace, dear Elisabeth Elliot.

Emma looks positively angelic in the white. Beautiful. I only wish I looked half as good as the salad or the pudding. A joyous day, a fabulous party! :)

  9. I had no idea who inspired you to blog. I have to thank Elisabeth in my prayers!
That banana pudding was just the bees knees
    Loved meeting Mary Z!
Katie is so mature. I had a blast talking to her.

I think your post is perfect, every picture, every word, every thing! Karen F.

  11. Your party for Emma looks fabulous! I love the tribute to Elizabeth Elliott. I had forgotten that is why you started your blog but I think you have had the same impact on me...I try.

  12. The party sounds like it was perfect. I always stress over the pictures more than anything else. I don't know why I do that to myself. I hope your stress will be gone!

I did not know Elizabeth Elliot had died. Through Gates of Splendor touched my life in such a deep way when I first read it years ago. I enjoyed her writings so much. She will be missed.

Hello. So nice to see you. Would you like to leave a comment? Be very kind.
