  1. you never cease to do it to me, Miz Boo... Tears streaming down my face here in my office!

As our youngest gets ready to go off to college this fall, and our oldest reveals his own homesickness at college some days, I think this really strikes a chord.

family is what it's all about.........

    1. Yes---it is so different when you set the table for two, when for years, it was four.

  2. I need a tissue now.
While my children and grandchildren are living close, we are having a family time together at my house once a month. It's not a big planned party. It's just us together, sharing a meal and laughing together. It's my most favorite day of the month.

    1. We started this tradition, too when our daughter moved back to the area. Once a month, at our house we would share a meal (everyone would bring something) with our two sons, their spouses, our daughter and our grandson. And occasionally a dog or two or three. It was my dream come true - coffee, dessert, and everyone sitting around the table playing games and laughing.

And then my younger son took his family - including our ONLY grandchild - and moved 5 hours away. (Insert crying face.)

I was going through my old print address book thinking about what I could throw away when your blog was up and I pressed the arrow and was instantly hooked. It was funny the choices the couples made. I laughed at the guy who said "Not in my house" to his wife's idea of Justin Beeber. Then came those precious children and they all said family or Mom and Dad and that one little guy who asked so seriously if it had to be a celebrity. Like Mary above, I had tears "streaming down my face." We can learn so much from our little ones. Thank you Donna! love and prayers, jep

  4. Oh, if I could have just one more dinner with my mother and sister...sniff.

This is lovely, Donna, and I really needed to remember how important a family meal is. Thanks for helping me keep the vision.

    Mucho love,
    Di

  5. My thoughts mirror Di's comment: I would choose dinner with my Mother, my Grandmothers and my daughters.

My Dad's mom passed when I was very young, what a thrill it would be to really know her. And for her to know my girls.

What a feast it would be!

    Thanks for sharing this, Donna.

  6. Yup! The whole family~~all the old folks resurrected and sitting around the table. So my kids could know my dad, and my grandparents and my husband's grandparents. That would be so cool to hear their stories. I would ask them questions all day long!

  8. Ok but I still silently want to stab myself whenever my kids ask what's for dinner. :)

I love the chaos that happens whenever whatever kids are in the area come for dinner bringing their families or significant others! Sigh.

I love this! Growing up, we ate dinner together every single night. With our kids, we ate dinner together almost every night. So many memories around the dinner table.

Thanks so much for sharing this.
