Best Book Quotes. Solid Mothering.
“If you feel your value lies in being merely decorative, I fear that someday you might find yourself believing that’s all that you really are. Time erodes all such beauty, but what it cannot diminish is the wonderful workings of your mind: Your humor, your kindness, and your moral courage. These are the things I cherish so in you. I so wish I could give my girls a more just world. But I know you’ll make it a better place."
-- Marmee, Little Women”

Love this Donna------always curious about why they called her Marmee. The movie is the greatest. Praying you and the precious daughter are feeling better. It seemed odd for Katie to be sick, as she is such a force of nature !!
ReplyDeleteYes, Donna I agree. Women need to be told their value is so much more than their physical state.
ReplyDeleteDear Marmee. Little Women is one of my favorite books. Hope Katie is better and that you are breathing well again.
ReplyDeleteThis is one of my favorite books of all time, I can't wait for my daughter to read it :)
ReplyDeleteExcellent quote. Marmee's so wise. Love Little Women!

Wonderful. Marmee knows best.
ReplyDeleteWas this quote addressed to one girl in particular, or the whole group together? I cannot remember. I love Marmee's wisdom. So smart, so calm, so able to see beyond immediate circumstances. A great character.
ReplyDeleteHappy Thursday,
Di
I was just reading the script and they don't have names...but this scene is when the girls come home from a party with Laurie. It sounds like it's a few of the girls...maybe not all.
DeleteI'm guessing Meg. But I could be remembering incorrectly.
DeleteI think you're right, Susan.
DeleteI've taken so, so many life lessons from that book. Thank you, Donna, for the reminder.
ReplyDeleteThis is my first time commenting - thanks for the daily morale boost I always find here :)
