Cause it's National Dance Day...
That hold.
That leg kick.
Oh they are so cool together.
This is from the movie Daddy Long Legs. I think this may be my most frequently posted video on the blog. I think I fell in love with dance when I saw it ...late at night on WGN.
In the 1970's if you caught a movie on television you would look up in the TV GUIDE to see what it was called....and the only way you would ever see it again is if you kept watch in that TV GUIDE for a rerun. I would never imagine that I could type into a device on my lap and have the dance at my fingertips, instantly. And then be able to share it with my friends.
It's a crazy wonderful world.
I love this song and this very cute couple dance from So You Think You Can Dance ....

Oh Donna! I lived in Chicago one summer with my Grandpa (I think the year Nixon resigned) because the only job I could find was at my uncle's nursing home as a nurse's aide (you could be under 18 back then) ANYWAY, after I got home at 11:30 pm I would watch old movies on WGN! I think this one too. He didn't get TV Guide but I could find the listings to identify the shows in the Chicago Tribune. I fell in love with Paul Newman that summer. :) Long story, sorry. But I love the kinship with your experience.
ReplyDeleteThanks for reminding me these wonderful old movies exist! I have always been a bit "old for my years" loving big band music and these classic movies. Now my 9 year old daughter is head over heels for dance and I think I should dig some out to watch with her! She'll love them too (or at least she'll love the dancing and think the stories are "cheesy" :D ).
